Walsh University to Host 9/11 Survivor Genelle Guzman-McMillan for Education for Life Colloquium Series |
Walsh University invites the campus and local community to a powerful evening of faith and resilience as part of its Education for Life Colloquium Series. On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Genelle Guzman-McMillan, the last survivor pulled from the wreckage of the World Trade Center on 9/11, will share her extraordinary story in the Barrette Business and Community Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by a book signing at 7:45 p.m.
During the devastating attacks on September 11, 2001, Guzman-McMillan was working for the port authority in the North Tower of the World Trade Center when it collapsed. She survived 27 hours trapped beneath the rubble, becoming the final person rescued alive from the ruins. Isolated and afraid, she endured the unthinkable – and in those darkest hours, experienced a powerful spiritual awakening that led her to rediscover faith, hope, and a renewed purpose. This event is free however registration is required and is expected to sell out so register early. | Read More

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the 5th Annual Hoover Park Festival. Despite high humidity and the threat of storms, the event welcomed more than 650 visitors to enjoy a full day of community and history. Highlights included well-attended history presentations, a vintage base ball game between the Canal Fulton Mules and the Spiegel Grove Squires, garden tours with the Herb Society, storytelling with the North Canton Public Library, and a patriotic concert by the Canton Concert Band. The event celebrated 175 years since Henry Hoover II purchased the property, and the community’s strong turnout made it a memorable day for all.
