Stewardship Consultant Report Summary
From the Governing Board and Executive Team
As promised, the board and executive team has had a chance to review the report from our recent visit from stewardship consultant Mark Ewert, and we want to share with you what we gathered from reading his report. Nothing was particularly surprising, and a lot of the report included background and context.  He did give some observations and recommendations; we are planning to work together as a board and executive team along with the planned giving committee and the generosity ministry team to decide how we might move forward with his recommendations. We also plan to be in ongoing conversation with Mark. To be sure, this is just the first step (after all, it was called the Next Steps Weekend, to help us discern our next steps!). The congregation will be kept informed and involved as any decisions are being made. Thank you for the support that was shown for this endeavor, at a busy time of year. To those of you who took time to come to a small group session or chat with Mark when he was here in December, we appreciate it! You can see the executive summary of the report HERE.

Imposter Syndrome by Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy
This month as we explore the concept of healing from shame, let's explore the ways shame embeds itself in our own minds, often through the phenomenon of "imposter syndrome," worrying that we don't measure up to the opinions or expectations of others. Come, let's free ourselves from imposter syndrome and celebrate what we can offer the world.

What We Have, What We Offer by Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy
Shame often rears its ugly head when we consider what we possess, and how we use it. Both our bodies and our money have been objects of societal shame for generations-- how can we break that cycle and rejoice in what we have?

At last weekend’s services, we collected $722.89 for African Heritage, a local organization focused on supporting and increasing the awareness of African Americans, Blacks, and members of our community that have an interest in African American/Black culture and issues. If you missed the opportunity to contribute please drop off or mail a check payable to Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship with African Heritage noted in the memo field, no later than Friday January 31, 2020. Your contribution will help support the ongoing work of African Heritage. Thank you for your support!

Collaborative Baby Blanket Project
Thanks to an idea by Rev. Christina and the knitting expertise of Cathy Thompson, knitters in our Fellowship will now be able to collectively knit baby blankets to give away at Fellowship child dedications, to keep your hands busy in services while making something beautiful for our Fellowship children! Participate in this project by grabbing one of the kits near the sanctuary doors (by the children’s activity bags). Inside, you’ll find needles and yarn; Cathy has “cast on” the yarn in a simple pattern to get you started. You’ll knit several rows while you participate in Sunday service, then leave the bag by the sanctuary doors for someone else to add to it later. Pattern instructions will be inside the kit bags.

Reclaiming Lent by Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy
The stations of the cross are an important ritual and embodied practice in many Christian traditions. Come explore these with an open mind, considering the ways this ancient practice might still speak to us in our current world with our current challenges. Unitarian Universalists have historically been such an optimistic faith that we often forget the power of lament and connection with those who are hurting. Lent provides the perfect framework for us to explore these themes as a pathway toward healing ourselves and the world. Sign up for childcare HERE. At least one child must be signed up 24 hours in advance for childcare to be provided
.
It’s time for CABARET - Our midwinter FUN - RAISER.
Saturday, February 15, 6:30 pm Doors Open, 7:15 Show Time. An evening of entertainment and refreshments for only $10.
Help make the magic happen by signing up HERE to bring in food, drinks, coolers, card tables or help with the performance. Lots of jobs are still empty. And be sure to come! You’ll be glad you did! Contact Mary Gerlach 920.734.5888 or gerlachmz@new.rr.com with questions.

Fellowship History Tidbits
The previous tidbit question was: What year did the Unitarians and Universalists merge? The answer is the merger took place in 1961, just 6 years after our Fellowship began. The question for this week is: How was programming done for the Fellowship in the 1960’s and 1970’s? Watch for the answer in an upcoming Weekly Scroll.

General Assembly is the annual gathering of Unitarian Universalists, where we conduct business of the Association, explore the theological underpinnings of our faith, and lean fully into our mission and principles. This 5-day immersive experience is where we participate in inspirational worship services and informative workshops, and explore our bustling exhibit hall.
