Thankfulness Grows Here

When you think about autumn in the garden, berries and blooms aren’t the first things that come to mind. But fall is about more than just fabulous foliage. Rose hips, holly berries, grass plumes, camellias – there is plenty to be thankful for in the garden this time of year. Camellias and hollies are two plants that really shine as the weather turns cold. The dark red berries of Robin™ Holly are perfect for winter decorating, while camellia blooms make for gorgeous Thanksgiving centerpieces.
Outdoors, evergreen plants like Oakland™ Holly and Yuletide™ Camellia add structure to the winter garden. They also provide lasting color in winter containers. When selecting shrubs for winter containers, make sure to consider winter hardiness. As a rule of thumb, consider the growing environment of a container to be two hardiness zones colder than your local climate. In the garden, hollies and camellias provide the foundation for vibrant winter plantings. Accent the dark green hues with colorful foliage and contrasting textures for beauty that lasts all year long.
