I am moving on to a new pasture! My last day of work in the Extension Dodge County office is today, Friday, June 23! The areas of Agriculture, Youth Livestock, and Human Development & Relationships were my main area of support, but if you called the office over the years with questions or needs- we have talked!
I have worked in the Extension office for over 7 years and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have had the opportunity to learn and sharpen my skill set working on projects and daily tasks for the Educators the office supports and be creative and efficient for the committees that fall under Extension. My co-workers and Extension Educators have been pivotal in my learning process. I am filled with appreciation.
With that, I am ready to take all that I have learned to my next position as an Event Coordinator at Midwest Horse Fair. The Midwest Horse Fair is one of the largest annual 3-day equine events in the country.
So, giddy up, have a terrific summer and we will see you on down the trail!

Club Happenings
Hyland Prairie (Vivian Lichty) Before the May meeting, we made suncatchers for our spring craft. We used colored stones, and put them in an empty picture frame. We will have a brat fry at LeRoy Meats, Fox Lake, Wisconsin, on May 20.
Richwood Rangers (Samantha Zubke) The club did highway clean up in May. Dairy promotional items have been picked up, assembly will be after today's meeting. Donations will be made to the Silent Auction, Pig Pals, Fish Pond and Supreme Showman.
Herman Hornets (Sophia Bender) There will be a work night scheduled to assemble approximately 50 activity to-go bags for the Theresa library. The club will be responsible for delivering dairy items to the Iron Ridge and Theresa Fire and Police Departments. The club will also purchase cheese trays for the fire departments.

Dane County & State 4-H Summer CampIf our 4-H Camp June dates didn't work for your family, Dane County and State 4-H Summer Camps at Upham Woods are both open for registration.
Dane County Camp:
Grades 3-5 – July 26 - 29, 2023
Grades 6-8 – July 29 - Aug 1, 2023
Wisconsin Camp:
Any youth entering 4th-8th grade.
July 5-8, 2023 OR July 19-22, 2023
Camp takes place at Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center in the WI Dells. Youth will experience 3 nights/4 days of fun camp activities, crafts, field games, campfire, swimming, nature walks, games and more. They will connect with the outdoors, try new activities, and make new friends.
Dane County 4-H Member - $220, General Camp Rate - $270 – payment plan available: pay ½ now and ½ on June 2. Deadline for registration is June 2, 2023.
State Camp Cost: $295. Scholarships are available for $30 and $60 through our registration process. 4-H members can request additional scholarship funds through Wisconsin 4-H.

Registration is Open!
Join us this August for Nature’s Navigators STEM Camp, a new branch of the Sky’s the Limit STEM Camp. Our camp aims to broaden science opportunities for autistic youth grades 6-12 by providing a summer camp that supports inquisitiveness in a nonthreatening, nontraditional, and inclusive learning environment. We provide nature-based, hands-on learning opportunities and encourage the pursuit of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) degrees and careers.
Attendees will participate in hands-on outdoor and indoor activities, such as learning to fly a drone, steering a remote-controlled TerraRover car, meeting live animals, collecting soil and water samples, and hiking through beautiful landscapes.

Way To Go Hyland Praire 4H!
Hats off to Hyland Prairie 4H! On Sunday, Hyland Prairie celebrated June Dairy Month and honored the staff at Dodge Co. Sheriff’s Office and Dodge Co. Jail, Beaver Dam Police Department and Beaver Dam Fire & Rescue.
Club members of Hyland Prairie 4-H Club presented 190 dairy-theme goodie bags to Sheriff Dale Schmidt, Chief Deputy Chad Enright, and Jail Captain Scott Smith. Pictured are club members Alex Radichel, Harper Zillmer, Sawyer Zillmer, Olivia Bird, and Hattie Zillmer.
Club members Olivia Bird and Serena Mittag presented dairy-themed goodie bags to Beaver Dam Sergeant Jesse Shilts and Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson. These members also presented goodie bags to Fire Captain Corey Braunschweig.
The Dodge Co. Dairy Promotion Committee assisted the club by providing dog treats for K9 officers along with some of the bags, cheese snacks, and yogurt used.

Dodge County Pig Pals
We will be running another exciting Pig Pals Event at the Dodge County Fair this year on Sunday morning, August 20, 2023. The “Pig Pals” Swine Show offers individuals with different abilities the opportunity to learn about swine, work with our junior swine exhibitor mentors, and show swine in a FUN Fair environment.
If you are a swine exhibitor and/or family member, and are interested in joining the fun as a:

Area Animal Science Days
Regional animal science educational opportunities are available to Wisconsin 4-H members. This is a series of two day-long events held around the state in June. Youth members in beef, dairy, horse, sheep and swine projects will work on their decision making skills and knowledge of animals through judging and grading experiences.
