MSW Students,

As we prepare for the end of Summer term and get ready to say hello to Fall, I want to send you some timely reminders. Your academic advisor remains available to you throughout the year, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help. For those who typically meet their advisors at the 1 Washington Square North location, please note that the building is currently closed for renovations. We continue to be available to meet via Zoom should the need arise and we look forward to seeing you all in person in the Fall!

For Incoming Students

Minimum Credit Requirements

Students who receive Silver Tuition Scholarship funding are required to meet the MSW Program’s minimum credit requirements. Find out the requirements for your pathway in the MSW Required Curriculum Guide. If you have any additional questions, please email Silver Financial Aid at silver.financialaid@nyu.edu.

Good Academic Standing

Students enrolled in the MSW Program are expected to maintain good academic standing. To meet the criteria, students must have:

A 3.0 grade point average
No F (failing) grades

Notice of Academic Concern

Students are placed on Academic Concern if they stop meeting the minimum requirements for Good Standing. You may only be on Academic Concern once during your time in the MSW Program.

Students placed on Academic Concern are encouraged to speak to their Academic Advisor to receive academic support and resources. We’re here to help!

For All Students

Appealing a Grade

Students may dispute a grade they believe to be a violation of the grading standards or policies set forth by the instructor.

Accessibility and Accommodations

New York University provides reasonable accommodations to qualified students through Moses Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Culture. Both continuing and new students who would like to request accommodations for the Fall term should be in contact with the Moses Center.

For Graduating Students

Summer/August 2025 Graduates

If you are completing your degree requirements this Summer term and have applied for Summer graduation, you can expect your degree to be conferred on August 25th, 2025. Congratulations! 🥳

Fall 2025 Graduates

For those of you who are completing your degree this Fall term, graduation applications are now open!

Graduation Application: July 1, 2025 through October 15, 2025
Requirements Deadline: January 18, 2026
Graduation Date (Conferral): January 19, 2026
