Lunch & Learn: Trauma, ACEs and Resiliency- Thursday, Sept. 26th from Noon-12:50pm, Bucknell University- Hildreth Mirza Great Room (Rooms 101-102). Join us for a lunchtime workshop with presenter Stephanie Reitmeyer, Senior Director of Education at the Susquehanna Valley United Way. This workshop will define Adverse Childhood Experiences, trauma effects on the brain, how to recognize signs of trauma, and how to create resilience and mental wellness. Each participant will receive lunch and a handouts to create a mental wellness plan for use after the workshop. RSVP is required.

Bucknell is hosting a Community International Festival on Saturday, Sept. 21st with volunteer shifts available in the 9am-5pm timeframe (on Engaged Bucknell). The goal of the Festival is to create a vibrant celebration of Bucknell’s Global Community and celebrate the welcoming environment fostered by the university and the local community, bringing folks together in appreciation of the cultural and global diversity around us.
The Ronald McDonald House Danville is looking for volunteers of up to 8 individuals to prepare and host a meal for families staying at the RMH while their child is in the hospital, with a volunteer calendar sign-up. Dinner is served between 6-6:30pm and should feed approximately 30 people, and a kitchen for dinner prep is provided at the RMH.
CommUnity Zone has a Tech Tutoring Program intended as an intergenerational program to help learners make the most of their personal devices, while simultaneously helping the volunteers hone their critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. Big Brothers Big Sisters NEPA is looking for board members as well as BIG matches for littles (youth) in Snyder, Union and Northumberland Counties. There is also a specific opportunity to be a Big mentor at a site-based Program on Bucknell’s campus this fall.

The Scratching Post has a need for volunteers, and one way to sign up is on Engaged Bucknell at their shared volunteer opportunity. As a volunteer, you can choose to cover a one-time or recurring cleaning/check-in shift which includes checking on the cats, filling bowls, scooping boxes, and other housekeeping tasks, and/or to work when the cafe is open checking in guests and ensuring the safety of the cats.

The Lewisburg Children’s Museum has a number of volunteer opportunities listed on Engaged Bucknell, including volunteers needed for shifts between 10am-4pm on 9/6 for LCM Free Friday, volunteer shifts for LCM Deep Clean Week on 9/23-9/29, and Daily Operations Volunteer and Special Programming Volunteer shifts also listed for registration.
