I hate lightbulbs—well, not exactly. I detest overhead lights, and fluorescent lights are soul-crushing. Being in the sunshine is being home. I can bathe in its radiant glow for hours.
Some mornings, I’m the early riser in our house. I head downstairs and turn on a pendant light hanging over our kitchen island—never igniting an overhead light. If my husband is first up, he flips on the overhead recessed lights, plus pendants, plus living room lights, creating an operating room ready for surgery. I walk in prepared with dark sunglasses, an unwelcome accessory to my PJs.
I walk around, turning off lights incessantly. When my kids are home, they ask, “Mom, can we please turn on a few lights?” Ten years ago, we added an addition to our house, and I had the electrician add dimmers to every switch, including every bathroom. No one uses them but me. My family has no aversion to bright lights. They determined I may have a phobia. It’s possible. Is despising bright overhead lighting in my DNA? These are the things I ponder.

Sublingual Semaglutide is Here!
Semaglutide belongs to a class of prescription drugs called GLP-1 receptor antagonists, which in a nutshell decrease appetite and food cravings, stimulate insulin secretion, and slow down the movement of food. Combined, these actions help to prevent large blood sugar spikes and limit our caloric intake, which are key to helping us lose weight.
If we lose weight, we automatically decrease inflammation, improve our cardiovascular health, and increase our longevity. Sounds like a Win-win-win! I am not usually a band wagon type of person but as a compounding pharmacist; I feel we must embrace technology and the potential health benefits of new approaches when the long-term health of our patients is at stake. While the Ozempic and Mounjaro wave continues to build, so do the insurance rejections for its reimbursement and patient dissatisfaction with needles. Thanks, in large part, to Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA), our main compounding supplier, the launch of Submagna, a patented sublingual base is now available to us to provide Semaglutide in a convenient under the tongue delivery system! Patients have already told us how easy the new method is even when being used daily. As great as this new medicine tool is, it is still not a substitute for a healthy eating style, exercise regimen and stress management, which are all key to optimal health & wellness.
Michael Briggs, PharmD, CNC, ICCT serves as COO of Lionville Natural Pharmacy and has been published in The Professional Guide to Complementary & Alternative Therapies, Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Older Adults. The Nursing Drug Handbook Series, and Pharmacotherapy.

For this Good Friday, we present a work that is generally regarded as one of the supreme achievements of classical music, Bach’s monumental Mass in B minor. Bach worked more than half his life on this Mass, completing the final movements only in 1749, the year before he died. It was his last major undertaking and the glorious summation of all his musical knowledge. Signed, as were most of his compositions, with “S.D.G.” (Soli Deo gloria, “to God alone be the glory”), this sublime masterpiece by the “fifth evangelist” is a fitting work to honor this sacred day.

COMMUNITY CORNER
T&E Care Annual School Supply Drive
It's just March and T&E Care already is planning their annual School Supply Drive for the 24/25 school year!
T&E Care is holding its annual School Supply Drive this year between April 16 and May 8. Sorting will take place from June 17-20 at Beaumont ES.This event helps to provide the needed supplies to local families who struggle to buy them. This way we hope to level the playing field for all our neighborhood kids! Thanks for helping us to make this happen!
This year we’re changing the format to make it easier for everyone. Instead of each donor worrying about making purchases of specific items – our volunteers are going to do the shopping! So donors will be asked to just sponsor children at the appropriate level: Elementary: $50, Middle School: $75, High School: $100
Once the number of children are confirmed at the various levels, a Sign Up Genius link will be live starting on April 16. Details
