Education Program Earns 100% Alignment in Science of Reading Review |
Walsh University’s educator preparation program has achieved 100% alignment with Ohio’s Science of Reading standards following a post-audit review completed by the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk under contract with the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The review confirmed that all audit metrics were addressed and that no prohibited content, including three-cueing, was found. Chancellor Mike Duffey congratulated Walsh University on the result and noted that no further action is required. This recognition reflects Walsh’s continued commitment to preparing future educators through evidence-based reading practices. Congratulations to the Division of Education and a special thank you to Dr. Michelle Lenarz, professor of Graduate Literacy and TESOL Education, for her contributions toward this critical effort!

Hoover Festival Celebrates Enduring Legacy of The Hoover Company |
Despite a gloomy forecast, the weather held out for a remarkably successful 2026 Hoover Park Festival on August 2, in Hoover Park. Community members gathered to celebrate local history and the enduring legacy of The Hoover Company through a full afternoon of engaging programming. Highlights included garden tours, a children’s story walk, and interactive displays from local heritage organizations, alongside an inspiring hour-long performance by the Canton Concert Band. Young visitors enjoyed train rides and hands-on "inspector" activities during tours of the Hoover Historical Center, while sports enthusiasts gathered for a vintage baseball exhibition showing how the game has evolved since the 1800s. The event also marked a special milestone by honoring the 100th anniversary of Hoover Hall and featured the exclusive premiere of the America 250 docuseries episode highlighting the Hoover Historical Center, a proud moment showcasing Walsh University’s commitment to preserving and sharing local history. Employer Roundtable Sparks Dialogue on Workforce Needs |
Walsh University recently welcomed hiring representatives and executives from a variety of industry sectors for an Employer Roundtable Breakfast with President Tim Collins. The discussion-based gathering provided an opportunity for employers to share hiring trends, workforce challenges, and the skills and experiences they value most in today’s graduates. The conversation offered meaningful insight into how Walsh can continue to strengthen its academic programs, student experiences, and support services to better align with employer expectations and workforce needs. It also created space for dialogue among participants about emerging trends, early-career talent pipelines, and future partnership opportunities. Walsh is grateful to all who participated and contributed their perspectives to this important conversation. Their feedback will help inform the University’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for success in their careers and in service to their communities.
