DAY OF SERVICE - THANK YOU!

The 6th Annual "Donate a Day of Service" was a great success thanks to many volunteers (including Associated Students, Service Learning / Honors students, Professor Kathryn Sonne, and numerous others. A brief overview of activities:

1. Letters to the Miliary were written by students to raise the spirits of those serving far from home.
2. Voter Registeration / Education encouraged many to officially register as voters and be more aware of their ability to make a difference with their votes.
3. Chalk Talk allowed participants to creatively record their feelings and impressions about service.
4. On-campus volunteer information sessions were held.
5. The Career Center offered information on jobs and career paths in the non-profit sector.
6. Halloween cards were made by students to be deliverd to children at CHOC

7. Numeous non-profit agencies from the local community were available to share how students can get involved off-campus. Thanks go out to the... Orange County Food Bank, the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress, Volunteer Action for Aging, St. Mary's Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, A Million Thanks, and Paws 4 Success.
8. The Puente Program sponsored a table with an extra-large card filled with solidarity and sympathy for our fellow students at Umpqua Community College. We will be sending out the card this week.
9. And, finally, the Blood Drive...  In two days, 333 students donated a total of 259 units (w/74 deferrals).

Thank you to all for your generosity!
