Message from the Commissioners of the Tennessee Deptartments of Health and Children's Services
The Tennessee Departments of Health and Children's Services are working to ensure all healthcare providers are familiar with the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016.  This federal law requires states to require healthcare providers involved in the delivery or care of infants born and affected from prenatal drug exposure to notify child protective services of the occurance of conditions in such infants, in addition to reporting cases of NAS to the department of health.  To read the communication from Commissioner Hommrich and Commissioner Dreyzehner, MD, please click here
Reminder: CME Deadline Approaching

Physicians are reminded to check their completed CME during the last quarter of the year. Physicians who renew their license in 2018 must complete the 40 hours of CME required by the Board of Medical Examiners (BME) by December 31, 2017. This includes the two-hour prescribing practices course.

TMA has a short 10-minute spotlight video, CME Requirements for TN Doctors, reviewing the CME requirements for both medical doctors and osteopathic physicians licensed by the state of Tennessee. This video walks through the requirements in Tennessee law and the rules promulgated by each licensing board.
  • Online courses are available on TMA's website and the link is also included for your convenience on the NAM website
  • If you have any questions or problems with the online class, contact Angie Madden at angie.madden@tnmed.org.
  • If you have any questions regarding your CME compliance, contact the TMA Legal Department at legal@tnmed.org

Use Ti2 to Give Feedback on TennCare Episodes of Care Reporting

TennCare’s Episodes of Care final reports were distributed to quarterbacks on Aug. 30, along with notices of rewards or penalties for care given in the previous year.

Earlier this year, the Tennessee Medical Asscoation, the Tennessee Hospital Association, Tennessee Medical Group Management Association, and Tennessee Association of Mental Health Organizations launched a web-based reporting tool called Tennessee Innovation Inform, or Ti2. The purpose of Ti2 is to give providers a neutral online forum to share their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions regarding the Episodes of Care reporting process.

Feedback submitted via Ti2 will be aggregated and shared with the TennCare Bureau and managed care organizations in order to identify opportunities and needs for improvement and changes to the reporting process.

TMA encourages members to use the Ti2 tool
to communicate your thoughts – good, bad or indifferent – about the Episodes of Care reporting process. For more information from TMA about TennCare Payment reform, please visit www.tnmed.org/episodes.
