This Global Accessibility Awareness Day, join the Mayor’s Office on Disability for a webinar titled "First Person: A conversation about websites and the disability experience." Global Accessibility Awareness Day aims to "disrupt the culture of technology and digital product development to include accessibility as a core requirement."

A panel of persons with disabilities will chat about:

• How they use and navigate the web
• How their assistive technologies work
• What digital barriers they encounter
• What accessibility means to them

Sign up for trainings

Visit our bookings page to view our training schedule. You can sign up for the following trainings:

• SF.gov concepts and structure
• Working in the SF.gov content management system
• Writing for SF.gov
• Meetings on SF.gov

To work on SF.gov, you must get an SF.gov login, or credentials. Learn how to get your credentials and start working on the site.

PUBLISHING TIPS

Best practices

Write at 5th grade reading level or below

Readability scores tell you how easy or difficult it is to read something. You should write at 5th grade reading level or below if your content:

• Is vital information for San Franciscans

• Will need human translations

For SF.gov content, we use the Hemingway Editor to determine “grade level." This “grade level” reflects the lowest education needed to understand that text.

The City has committed to provide information for the public at a 5th grade reading level. So everything on SF.gov, unless it’s legal content or specifically for experts, should be at that level.

We're happy to work with you to lower the reading level of your content. We've got office hours on Tuesday and Wednesday every week. Book a slot or just stop by!
