| Carpenter Selected for PRISM Program |
Dr. Amanda Carpenter, associate professor of public health, program director, and assistant dean for research, was selected for the 2026 Population Research Institute for Science and Medicine (PRISM) fellowship program. The PRISM program provides intensive research training for early-career researchers committed to improving health across populations. It also provides behavioral health and biomedical researchers with structured mentorship, dedicated research guidance, and support for grant submissions.

Gustafson's Work Guides Puma Listing |
Research by Dr. Kyle Gustafson, associate professor of biology, played a foundational role in California’s December decision to list certain puma populations as threatened. His research on mountain lion population genetics is referenced more than 350 times in the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s status review, where his genetic analyses were used to define population structure, evaluate connectivity, and identify populations at elevated risk from fragmentation and inbreeding.

| Tetteh Appointed to Journal Team |
Dr. Dinah Tetteh, associate professor of communication studies and James and Wanda Lee Vaughn Endowed Professor, has been appointed to serve as associate editor of Women’s Studies in Communication, a peer-reviewed journal published by Taylor & Francis. The journal’s research focus examines work at the intersection of communication, gender and feminism. Tetteh’s commentary, in which she outlined her vision for the journal, is available online.

AIS Recognizes Nagpal’s Contributions |
Dr. Pankaj Nagpal, assistant professor of information systems and business analytics, was featured in the Spotlight by the Association for Information Systems (AIS), the professional association for those who lead research, teaching, practice and study of information systems. In addition to presentations and service at the North American (AMCIS) and the international conference (ICIS), Nagpal also is an associate editor for the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), to be held in Italy.

| Daroonparvar is Lead Article Author |
Dr. Mohammadreza Daroonparvar, assistant professor of materials engineering, is the lead author of a recent publication in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds. The study investigates environmental degradation in metal additively manufactured alloys, including corrosion under mechanical loading, high-temperature oxidation, dynamic embrittlement, and grain boundary oxidation, comparing them with conventionally manufactured alloys to clarify damage mechanisms and structure–property relationships affecting long-term performance.
