English 10 Honors Students Experience a Walking Tour of Indiana Avenue
Ms. Parson and Ms. Goodrich, recently took students in English 10 Honors on a walking tour of Indiana Avenue, in part thanks to a grant from the Mothers Association.
The tour took the group through the historically black neighborhood around Indiana Avenue with Sampson Levingston of Through2Eyes Indiana as their guide. The group visited Madam Walker Theater, the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, several murals, and the AME church along the canal.
Students learned about the rich history in Indianapolis that connects to the texts of the Harlem Renaissance poets and Lorraine Hansberry's play A Raisin in the Sun that they have been studying in class.
