What is a personal piece of advice (business advice/saying/quote) that you lean on and could pass on to others?
I’ve always lived by the idea of “work smarter, not harder,” but the way I think about it has evolved over time. It’s not about avoiding hard work, it’s about questioning it. Anytime something feels overly complicated or time-consuming, I pause and ask: is this actually necessary, or is there a better way to do it? More often than not, there’s an opportunity to streamline, automate, or rethink the process entirely.
Best business book you’ve ever read?
“Shoe Dog” by Phil Knight is one of the most impactful business books that I’ve read, even if it’s considered a memoir. What stuck with me is how messy and uncertain the journey really was. You look at Nike now and it feels inevitable, but the book is a reminder that great businesses were once startups, too. There were constant risks, cash flow challenges and moments where it could have all fallen apart. It reinforces that building something meaningful isn’t a straight line, and that persistency, adaptability and a bit of scrappiness matter just as much as having a great idea.
One misstep you took in your business that you could caution others about?
One of my biggest missteps early on was being too much of a pushover as I transitioned from peer to leader. When you start a business and your peers come work for you, it’s natural to want to maintain that same dynamic. I avoided tough conversations, blurred boundaries and prioritized being liked over being clear. Over time, I realized that wasn’t serving anyone. As a leader, your responsibility is to set expectations, create accountability and make decisions that move the business forward – even when they’re uncomfortable.
How to you de-stress after a particularly hard day?
I always joke that I’m an “outside person,” not necessarily an outdoorsy one. My favorite way to reset after a long day is spending time with my family on our patio. We’ve created a full dining space outside, so we eat al fresco as often as possible while the kids run around and play. It’s simple, but it’s how I clear my head and come back to center. I’m very intentional about being a family woman who runs a business, not the other way around. That time outside helps me be fully present with my kids, disconnect from the day and remind myself what I’m ultimately building all of this for.
What’s something about you that would surprise everyone reading this?
Something that surprises people is that I always wanted to be a news reporter… and I actually did it! I was hired straight out of college at a news station in my hometown of Nashville. But I quickly realized that lifestyle, the hours and the long-term trajectory weren’t what I wanted for myself. So I stumbled into promotional products, and the rest is history. Turns out, the core of what I loved about journalism – connecting with people, asking the right questions, communicating clearly – translates into just about any industry.
What part of EO are you most looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs here in Nashville. It’s my hometown, but over the past few years I’ve had my head down, building both my business and my family, so I’ve stepped back from the networking scene. Now feels like the right time to re-engage, and there’s something really powerful about being in a room with peers who understand the highs and lows of entrepreneurship.
Any exciting plans for 2026?
We have a kid-free trip to Italy planned this summer. It’ll be our first time visiting, and we’re really looking forward to exploring Rome, Florence, Lake Como and Milan. (PS – Recommendations are welcomed!)
