Dear RideECO Administrator,
As you are aware, SEPTA has been working on their New Payment Technology Program, SEPTA Key, for some time. This is an exciting project that combines both state-of-the-art fare collection and commuter benefits for our clients. As part of the transition to SEPTA Key, SEPTA launched their Early Adopters program this week.
Early adopters may obtain a Key Card at select stations along the Market Frankford El and the Broad Street Subway. Key Cards may be loaded with a weekly pass at this time, and beginning on June 20th, monthly passes will be able to be loaded onto a Key Card.
Key Cards may be used for travel throughout the city transit system; including:
  Buses*
  Trolleys (Routes 10, 11, 13, 15, 34, 36, 101, and 102)
  Trackless Trolleys
  Market Frankford Line
  Broad Street Line
  Norristown High Speed Line*
*Customers riding Bus Routes 123, 124, 125, 150 and the Norristown High Speed Line using the SEPTA Key Card with a TransPass must pay the additional fare as they do today with SEPTA’s current TransPass product.
At present, the Key Card cannot be redeemed for daily travel on Regional Rail; however, a SEPTA Key Card loaded with a valid TransPass will continue to have ANYWHERE pass privileges to ride Regional Rail on weekends and holidays.
How does this impact RideECO Clients?
We are aware that many RideECO users are interested in testing out SEPTA’s new Key Cards.  During the Early Adopter program, RideECO participants may obtain a Key Card from one of the fare kiosks; however, RideECO vouchers will only be accepted at 1234 Market Street to load weekly or monthly passes. Otherwise, employees will have to load Key with their own funds.
Again, only weekly or monthly TransPasses can be loaded onto the card during this Early Adopters period; there will be more functions to the Key Card when it is fully introduced and we will keep you informed along the way.
What are RideECO’s long-term plans to accommodate the SEPTA Key Card?
We expect to emulate the process currently offered to users of the PATCO FREEDOM Card. Employers will provide RideECO with their employees' SEPTA Key Card serial numbers. RideECO will then load the SEPTA Key Cards electronically.  Please note, RideECO and SEPTA are not yet testing the electronic loading of SEPTA Key Cards.
We have been working closely with SEPTA as they test and implement the Key program and will continue to share more information as it becomes available. A list of resources and information regarding the Early Adopters launch is below.
Thank you for your continued support of RideECO.
