The #CATCHkickoff Fun Continues!
By Duncan Van Dusen, Founding Executive Director, CATCH Global Foundation
"I had the pleasure this week of celebrating a successful year 1 and kickoff of year 2 with one of our New Orleans area schools, Bridgedale Elementary. Media, administrators, teachers, and students all had fun – living CATCH's maxim that 'if it's fun, it gets done!'
This edition provides exciting updates on 3 multi-year CATCH programming initiatives that we began when we started the Foundation in 2014:
  • CATCH Promise: This is a pledge by CATCH Global Foundation to bring our evidence-based health programming to communities where it will have the greatest public health benefit. If a community can demonstrate their commitment to implement CATCH, we will ensure they have all the support necessary to succeed. In addition to Jefferson Parish in New Orleans, we have several active projects around the country - read more and apply here.

  • CATCH.org: To make CATCH materials more accessible and user-friendly, we now offer our entire PreK-8th grade health education curriculum online in both English and Spanish! Email info@catchinfo.org with questions or to order your subscription.

  • New health education modules: We have expanded our lineup to include the PreK-1st grade Ray & the Sunbeatables: A Sun Safety Curriculum (created by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center) and the 6th-12th grade CATCH My Breath youth e-cigarette prevention program. Thanks to generous support from our Founding Partners and a new grant we'll be announcing soon, both of these programs are entirely FREE online for all schools nationwide. Email info@catchinfo.org to get signed up.
Thanks for all you do for kids health and keep enjoying your work!"
The number of programs available through the CATCH.org online platform continues to grow! We've added the CATCH Early Childhood and CATCH Kids Club (afterschool K-5) programs as well as Spanish language versions of our PreK-8th grade obesity-prevention programs with CATCH en Español.
With CATCH.org your entire campus can access the CATCH lessons they need—easily and conveniently—through any internet-connected device. That includes smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, you name it.

CATCH Expanding in New Orleans Thanks to Continued Support from the Humana Foundation
CATCH Global Foundation and Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) will expand implementation of the CATCH program to 16 additional elementary schools thanks to a $159,000 grant from the Humana Foundation.
Phase 2 of the “New Orleans CATCH Coordinated School Health Initiative” kicked off with a celebration of Phase 1 outcomes during a morning assembly at Bridgedale Elementary school. JPPSS Superintendent Isaac Joseph laid out a vision for Phase 2 of the project and accepted the check from Rhonda Bagby, Humana’s Employer Group vice president for Louisiana and southern Mississippi and co-chair of Humana’s Bold Goal initiative in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

“Students that come to school well fed and healthy obviously do quite well academically, and that’s one of the goals of this program and everything we try to support here in Jefferson Parish… I want to thank Humana for this $159,000 grant that we get from the Foundation and we hope to expand it – as we have to 16 more schools – for a total of 24 schools in Jefferson Parish. It is our hope that we can expand it to every school, every parent, and to every student in this district. We are grateful to the Humana Foundation and CATCH for bringing this scientifically proven program to thousands of students in our district.”
