Former Secretary of State Rice to speak at Notre Dame

A Conversation With: Condoleezza Rice,” hosted by President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., and featuring alumna and the 66th U.S. Secretary of State, will take place in Jordan Auditorium. Topics will include the Russian invasion of Ukraine, women’s leadership, the 50th anniversary of women undergraduates at Notre Dame and collegiate athletics.

Hesburgh-Stephan award recipient announced

Notre Dame alumnus and longtime Trustee John W. Jordan II “Jay” will receive the Hesburgh-Stephan Medal during the University’s 177th commencement exercises May 15. The award is given to a Trustee for uncommon and exemplary contributions to Notre Dame during his or her tenure on the Board.

Three honorary degrees to be presented at Commencement

Notre Dame will present honorary degrees at the 2022 Commencement on May 15 to Ernest J. Moniz and Kathleen McChesney. The distinguished leaders were to be recognized at the 2020 ceremony, postponed due to the pandemic. Metropolitan-Archbishop Borys Gudziak of Ukraine, this year's commencement speaker, will also receive an honorary degree.

Class builds suspension bridge in a day on quad

An engineering class recently moved from the classroom to the quad. The “Build, Break, Perfect” class, taught to first-year students, culminated with the building of a 100-foot suspension bridge on DeBartolo Quad, in a single day.
