  1. Graduate students and faculty were recognized at the Fall 2022 Graduate School Citations for Academic Excellence. Grand Valley State University is extremely proud of the accomplishments of these graduate students and graduate faculty members. Check out this article for a complete list of awardees and photos from the event. Congratulations to all!

  2. The King-Chávez-Parks Initiative's Future Faculty Fellowship Program is accepting applications. The purpose of this program is to provide support for academically or economically disadvantaged candidates pursuing faculty teaching careers in postsecondary education. The application deadline is March 1, and students can view the application on myScholarships.

  3. The Graduate School will be hosting the Winter 2023 Project, Thesis, and Dissertation Workshops on January 18 and 19, 2023. This workshop is required for all graduate students beginning a thesis in the Winter 2023 semester or enrolled in a 695/795 course. Students completing a project are welcome to attend. Students can register for a session at our website.

  4. Lakers, put your presentation skills to the test in the Three-Minute Thesis competition! This is a unique opportunity to share your work with the broader community in a fun and exciting format. The winner will receive a cash prize as well as full funding to represent GVSU at the Midwest Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) 3MT Competition in March 2023. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2023, with the competition taking place on February 16. Students can apply on our website.

  5. Cameron Zbikowski (Public Administration, M.P.A.) is a member of a successful legislative effort that aims to address efficiency, transparency, and accountability concerns of healthcare services for veterans across the country. The Patient Advocate Tracker Act was passed by President Biden this past September, after receiving overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress. Congratulations to Cameron for leaving a Laker Effect mark on our government! You can check out the full article on our website.

  6. Finally, we would like to congratulate everyone that has made it past the finish line this semester. Fall class of 2022, we are proud of your hard work and will be looking forward to your Laker Effect. For those that still have a way to go, we hope you will have a great Winter Break, from December 18, 2022, to January 08, 2023.
