Pool Closures This Summer

If you have frequented the Ken-Caryl Ranch pools this summer, you have probably noticed short-term pool closures periodically throughout the week. Despite regular pre-season preparations and inspections, some pool parts have broken unexpectedly. Staff is working hard with a professional pool contractor to fix the issues. Some of the parts have to be custom-built due to the age of the pools (replacement parts are no longer available), so not all repairs can be made immediately. We actively announce pool closures on our Facebook page, so make sure to follow the page at www.facebook.com/kencarylranch. Staff understands that the closures are frustrating, but please know we are working as hard as possible to resolve the issues. If one pool is closed, we encourage you to visit one of the other two pools.

Splash Pad Now Open Longer Hours

The splash pad at the Community Center now has longer hours, even before the pool opens during the week! You can enjoy the splash pad daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Also, the new splash pad interactive features, as shown in the photo above, will be added later this month thanks to a grant from Jefferson County.

Proposed Policies on e-Bikes and Outdoor Speakers

The Master Association Board intends to pass a motion at its June 20 meeting to allow class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes as an Other Power-Driven Mobility Device in the Ken-Caryl Ranch Private Open Space. Under this policy, e-Bikes will only be allowed for those individuals with a disability. Also at its June 20 meeting, the Master Association Board will discuss and vote on a proposed resolution to allow outdoor speakers on properties on Ken-Caryl Ranch. If you have any questions or comments, contact Chris Pacetti at chrisp@kcranch.org or 303-979-1876, ext. 116.

Wildlife Awareness Open House

Come talk with the Master Association Rangers about the dos and don’ts when encountering wildlife, see mounts and skins, and grab some educational material provided by Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Jefferson County Open Space.

Date: Saturday, June 24
Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Location: Dakota Lodge
Fee: This event is FREE for residents. Registration is not needed.
Fawn

Let Sleeping Fawns Lie as Summer Arrives

During spring and early summer, the Rangers often receive calls about "abandoned" deer fawns, but fawns are often left alone, sometimes for several hours, by their mother and are not actually abandoned. Fawns that are truly abandoned will show signs of distress such as crying. Do not approach, touch or handle young animals. For more information, see the full article from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
