Suburban West Announces 2021 Board of Directors Candidates

The Association is pleased to announce the slate of candidates who will be on the ballot for the election of the 2021 Board of Directors. Note that for the 2021 election of the inaugural Tri-County Suburban Realtors® Board of Directors, Suburban West members will have the opportunity to choose Suburban West representation. Additionally, the Montgomery County Association of Realtors® will also select their allotted representation. To view the list of candidates, click here. Once on the site, you can click on each candidate's name to access a brief question and answer session and a video recording addressing why they are running for election.
For the 2021 election, the online polls will open on October 1st and email notification will be sent to every Realtor® member on October 2nd with the election culminating at the conclusion of the Virtual Annual Membership Meeting scheduled for October 22nd. Suburban West Realtor® members will be asked to choose six (6) fellow Suburban West Realtor® members to serve alongside our current Chairman of the Board (Kit Anstey), our current Chairman Elect (Vince Range) and our Commercial Chapter representative (Dave Specht). Members elected will serve a 2-year term to the Board.
If you would like to receive a hard copy of the ballot to be mailed to you, that request must be filed with the Association's CEO, Anne Marie Matteo by September 24th. Additionally, in accordance with the bylaws, additional candidates may be placed in nomination by petition by at least 5% of the Realtor® members eligible to vote. The petition must be filed with Anne Marie Matteo at least four (4) weeks before the election (September 24th).
We hope all Realtor® members will make their voice heard and help shape the new Tri-County Suburban Realtors®.

New Safety Resources, Safety Report Available Through NAR

Realtors® face job-related risks every day. In an ongoing effort to keep safety top-of-mind for members, the National Association of Realtors® dedicates September as Realtor® Safety Month. Being aware of potential dangers and taking precautions can help you avoid risky situations.
NAR has a wealth of resources to help members better understand and educate each other about the safety risks they face. From planning a safety strategy to extensive safety resources including apps, products, and educators, NAR has many useful items for all real estate professionals including regularly scheduled safety webinars, numerous articles organized by category, videos, and a safety alert program.
NAR continues to grow and strengthen the Realtor® Safety Program with new resources and tools, such as the Realtor® Safety Network, to deploy safety alerts via social media when a physical or cyber threat to Realtors® warrants national attention. NAR also just recently released their 2020 Member Safety Report. This report details how Realtors® feel about their safety and what steps they are already taking to protect themselves.
Visit NAR.realtor/safety to learn more and access all of NAR’s Realtor® Safety resources. If you need assistance or have suggestions, please email safety@realtors.org.

SRA to Upper Darby: Your U&O Process is Broken - We Can Help Fix it

The Suburban Realtors® Alliance has contacted Upper Darby Township officials expressing frustration at the pervasive and serious problems plaguing the township's use and occupancy process. The correspondence, sent by SRA president/CEO Jamie Ridge on August 25th, cited common problems identified in an SRA survey of Realtors’® experiences working in the township.
“The most common complaint is that there is no confirmation from code staff that a use and occupancy application has been received, followed by multiple failed attempts by our members to reach a staff member regarding the status of the application,” Ridge wrote. “The lack of communication from the township is causing considerable stress on both sellers and buyers, and in many instances it has meant that settlement dates have had to be moved due to the lack of a use and occupancy permit from the township."
