When our world locked down because of SARS-CoV-2, we all dreaded the fact past vaccines took years to be safe and authorized for use. Pfizer and Biontech surprised the world with their rapidly developed vaccine in an amazingly short window, mere months after the virus was first genetically sequenced.

Hear USF grad Fred Angulo ‘78, MS ‘79 speak to our community, who after a long career working for the CDC joined Pfizer and is part of the team focused on the development of the BNT162b2 vaccine. He will join USF professors PhD. Taryn Vian and PhD Christina Tzagarakis-Foster for a panel discussion, covering the history of the vaccine development, the science behind the vaccine, the ethics of distribution, and public health perspectives on the vaccine.

Please join us June 10th as Peter Toren, JD ’85 shares the inspiring story of how he and his father David Toren have spent years pursuing an art collection that was stolen from their family by the Nazis during WWII including works by Pissarro and Courbet. Peter speaks with USF Law Adjunct Professor Karren Shorofsky and describes the circumstances surrounding the theft, the successful return of two paintings by Max Liebermann,  and the ongoing legal case for reclaiming the stolen art, including suing the Federal Republic of Germany in federal court in Washington, D.C
