CIT Conference set for January 2017
MHAMD and members of the Mental Health and Criminal Justice Partnership are helping to plan a statewide police Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) conference January 26, 2017, at Catonsville Community College. Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford is expected to deliver an introduction for the conference, and present awards for CIT Officer of the Year, CIT Program of the Year and CIT Instructor of the Year.
Workshops will cover a range of topics, including trauma-informed policing, personal stories, CIT sustainability, self-care, peer-to-peer support, risk assessment for adolescents, CIT in corrections and the heroin epidemic. Registration will open soon. For more information, contact slinkous@mhamd.org.
In November, MHAMD and partners sponsored a well-received, first-of-its-kind CIT Train-the-Trainer program at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission.
Help identify your community's need for crisis services
Thanks to a successful legislative effort led by MHAMD and the Maryland Behavioral Health Coalition, the Maryland Behavioral Health Advisory Council (BHAC) is developing a plan for a statewide network of 24/7 clinical crisis walk-in centers and mobile crisis teams.
Make your voice heard by taking a moment to complete and share a brief survey to ensure the final plan reflects the needs of your community. Read more on the MHAMD Perspectives Blog.
