Fund for Education Abroad
Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) provides up to $5,000 towards study abroad expenses including travel costs. FEA is accepting applications for Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and AY2023-2024 study abroad programs. Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Apply by January 13, 2023.

Boren Awards Info Session

Boren provides up to $25,000 for students to study a foreign language abroad in less-traveled-to countries. Boren offers scholarships for undergraduates and fellowships for graduate students. Students must be U.S. citizens to apply. Register to attend.

CHCI Public Policy Fellowship in Washington D.C.- Deadline: December 15! Graduating seniors can take advantage of this paid fellowship, which opens doors for talented young Latinos who are pursuing a career in public policy. Our goal is to help you accelerate your career in public policy so that more Latinos attain higher levels of policy leadership, which will make a better America for us all. You will spend nine months working in Washington, D.C., with significant exposure to leaders in congressional offices, federal agencies, national nonprofit advocacy organizations, government-related institutes, and more—growing both personally and professionally during your fellowship experience.

Teach Thailand Corps (TTC)- Deadline: December 31! TTC focuses on strengthening primary and secondary school education in Thailand, particularly in high-need areas. TTC recruits and places graduates of American colleges in schools in less-developed provinces to teach English and other subjects. Benefits: Monthly stipend, accommodation, week-long welcome orientation and excursion (training for your roles, including language and culture orientation, supervision, and evaluation), transportation to your school, domestic work-related travel, work permit and visa in Thailand, mid-year and year-end retreats, and airfare scholarships for California students.

**Deadline Extended** Jump Start Fellowship Program- Deadline: January 4! MHALA's Jump Start Fellowship Program is an innovative 12-week program for those who want to work in the public adult mental health field. A partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Jump Start helps to build a diversified workforce in the mental health field. Each graduate earns a certificate as a Mental Health Recovery Specialist. Offered in the spring and the fall in Long Beach, Jump Start combines classroom learning with applied internships. Halfway through the full-time program, participants are matched with an internship so they can put learned skills to practice. By the end of the program, they will have completed 180 classroom hours and 240 internship hours. Participants receive a stipend of $250 per week.

Dream Summer Fellowship- Deadline: January 6! Participants are placed within social justice-based organizations and work closely with their host organization to incorporate and strengthen the role of immigrant issues alongside the organization’s social justice work. Dream Summer fellows receive a $5,000 fellowship award for their participation in the program, leadership and professional development training, and become part of a national alumni network. Switzer Fellowship for Graduate Students- Deadline: January 9. The Switzer Fellowship Program offers one-year Fellowships to highly talented graduate students in New England and California whose studies and career goals are directed toward environmental improvement and who clearly demonstrate leadership in their field. The Fellowship provides a $17,000 cash award for academic study, leadership training, access to a vibrant network of nearly 600 Switzer Fellowship alums, and opportunities for professional development during the Fellowship year and beyond. Switzer Fellows are on the leading edge of environmental and social change through efforts in environmental science, policy, conservation, environmental justice, public health, economics, journalism, urban planning, business, law and more.

Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship- Deadline: January 13. The Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program is a paid 12-month social justice program that trains, inspires, and sustains recent graduates. Fellows gain field experience fighting hunger and poverty through placements in community-based organizations across the country, and policy experience through placements in Washington, D.C. The program bridges community-based efforts and national public policy, and fellows develop as effective leaders in the movement to end hunger and poverty.

NYC Urban Fellows Program- Deadline: January 13. The Urban Fellows Program is sponsored by The City of New York and administered by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS). The Urban Fellows Program is a paid, nine-month fellowship that combines work in Mayoral offices and City agencies with volunteer service opportunities and a seminar series that explores current urban issues impacting public policy. The program is designed to introduce a diverse group of America's finest college students and graduates to local government and public service. Program participants come from all over the country to work in New York City.

APAICS Congressional Fellowship Program- Deadline: January 27. This program offers full-time, paid legislative and public policy fellowships in Washington, DC, providing exceptional graduates and young professionals with an opportunity to work on policy issues as staff members in a congressional office. The Fellowship provides a living stipend and health insurance, a mentorship program, access to the APAICS Alumni Network, and professional development opportunities throughout the year.

The McDonnell International Scholars Academy at Washington University in St. Louis- Deadline: January 31. The McDonnell International Scholars Academy provides the network with which Washington University in St. Louis incubates new ideas and mentors future leaders. Through our partnerships, we lead groundbreaking research projects and prepare our Scholars to be effective leaders in a global community. Scholars receive full financial support (tuition and room and board) and leadership training to dynamic students with proven academic excellence and leadership potential while pursuing graduate studies at Washington University, including professional programs like medical and law school.

2023 NPR Reflect America Fellowship- Deadline: January 8! During the 12-month fellowship, the Reflect America fellow will work with journalists across the Newsroom and Programming to find, cultivate and vet sources who are often missing from media coverage, ensuring that those voices make it into NPR's news programs on the air, in podcasts and across all digital platforms. The fellow will spend the final three months of the fellowship reporting with one of NPR's news teams. Open journalists with at least two years' experience (including internships and other fellowships) in any journalism medium.

American Political Science Association Ralph Bunche Summer Institute- Deadline: January 23. The Ralph Bunche Summer Institute Program is an annual, intensive five-week program held at Duke University. The program is designed to introduce aspiring political scientists to the world of doctoral study. Applicants must be a US citizens, US nationals, US permanent residents, or DACA and a member of one of the following groups: African Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Latinos/as, American Indians or Alaska natives, and Native Hawaiians, or an individual who is interested in broadening participation in political science by students from underrepresented minority populations and pursuing scholarship on issues affecting underrepresented groups or issues of tribal sovereignty and governance, must be college/university junior with an interest in teaching and potential for research in political science.

American Economics Association Summer Training and Scholarship Program- Deadline: January 31. This program seeks to increase diversity in the field of economics by preparing talented undergraduates for doctoral programs in economics and related disciplines. Students develop and solidify technical skills in preparation for the rigors of graduate studies. All students receive 2 months of intensive training in microeconomics, math, econometrics and research methods with leading faculty. At 3 credits per class, students have the opportunity to earn 12 credits. AEASP is an all-inclusive package covering tuition, fees, living expenses, transportation, books and program excursion costs. All eligible participants will receive a $3,250 stipend upon successful program completion.

Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship Program- Deadline: January 23. The mission of the MLEF program is to strengthen a diverse pipeline of future STEM professionals, and this program has mentored several hundred of the best and brightest students from across the nation for future careers in STEM. Selected candidates train under the mentorship of program officials and scientists on focused research projects, consistent with the mission of the Office of Fossil Energy. During these 10-week summer energy fellowships, participants receive a stipend, and some students may be eligible for housing and travel allowances for the duration of the program. They also gain insight into how DOE is working to meet the energy challenges of the future.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship Program- Deadline: January 31. This scholarship is to increase undergraduate training in oceanic and atmospheric science, research, technology, and education and foster multidisciplinary training opportunities. The Hollings Scholarship Program provides successful undergraduate sophomores with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility during the summer. The internship between the first and second years of the award provides the scholars with hands-on, practical experience in NOAA-related science, research, technology, policy, management, and education activities. Awards also include travel funds to attend a mandatory NOAA Scholarship Program orientation and the annual Science & Education Symposium, scientific conferences where students present their research, and a housing subsidy for scholars who do not reside at home during the summer internship.
