This email outlines anticipated construction activity on the Vanderbilt University—Nashville campus from April 24 through May 8. The next construction update will be provided on May 8. When necessary, time-sensitive notifications are shared via Anchor Updates and on the Vanderbilt Facilities social media.

Construction Hours Change due to Exams, Commencement |
Exam Week
Central Neighborhood Residential Colleges, Stevenson Center 6 and Peabody Residential College are prohibited from starting site equipment until 8 a.m. from April 23 – 30.
Commencement:
Central Neighborhood and Peabody Residential College sites will suspended work from noon on Thursday, May 7 and on Friday, May 8.
Stevenson Center 6 site will remain open on May 7 and 8. No loud, disruptive work will occur on May 8.
No work will occur at Hawkins Field on May 7 and 8.

Blasting to begin at Stevenson Center 6 construction site |
Blasting operations are scheduled to begin May 18 at the Stevenson Center 6 construction site. Blasting will occur on weekdays and is expected to last approximately four weeks.

- Blasts will typically occur around 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and/or 1 p.m.
- A series of three air-horn blasts will be sounded five minutes prior to the blast.
- A series of three blast signals will sound one minute before detonation.
- An all-clear signal will sound following an inspection of the blast.

The contractor will conduct monitoring during each blast and provide data reporting. If elevated vibration levels are detected, blasting patterns will be adjusted to reduce impacts. Industry-standard safety measures will be used for all blasting events.

Portion of Garland Avenue to close in May |
To continue progress with the Central Utilities Initiative Phase II and to deliver resilient, upgraded utilities to the Historic Neighborhood part of Garland Avenue will be closed from Monday, May 11 to mid-September 2026.
Starting Monday, May 11 commuters will use a two-way temporary road located off 24th Avenue South to access Stevenson Center Lane (see map above for more details). Clear, marked pedestrian paths will be maintained throughout the area. The proposed pathways are highlighted in dark blue.

Construction for the Central Utilities Initiative (CUI) Phase II and the Central Neighborhood Residential Colleges continues in the area.
As a reminder, Parking lot 16, located next to Studio Arts along Garland Avenue, is now open to accommodate the closing of Lot 18 until mid-June. To access this lot, commuters should take 25th Avenue South to the drive in front of Student Life Center.

Historic Core Neighborhood |
Above grade demolition is complete at the Stevenson Center 6 construction site. The construction manager is finalizing demolition and will begin preparing the site for foundation and footers. Blasting is set to begin late May to early June. As that date is solidified, we will share that information with the community including safety protocols.

As Vanderbilt Athletics continues its reinvisioning through its Vandy United campaign, a handful of projects are occurring in the Frist Athletics Village.
The Lummis Tennis Center is nearly complete with just punch list items remaining. Hawkins Field is undergoing a renovation which includes the permanent closure of lot 71 along 25th Avenue South. This renovation includes a new three-story structure to replace the right field bleachers, increased seating capacity, new spaces for the team, staff, and coaches, and an enhanced fan experience.
As a reminder Jess Neely is permanently closed to vehicles, the good news is it is now a beautiful pedestrian pathway.

Martha Rivers Ingram Commons Residential College |
Construction continues at the Commons Residential College site, located on the Peabody campus. The site work expanded further into the Wyatt Lawn to begin working on underground utilities.

- Visual signs of construction on and around campus, including construction fencing and barriers.

Peabody roundabout to close May 10 for underground utility work |
Starting Sunday, May 10 the roundabout and connected sidewalks located between Memorial, Stambaugh, East and Crawford Houses will close until August 2026.
The egress from these buildings to the roundabout and nearby sidewalks will be closed for the duration of the project, pedestrians should follow the signs in and around the buildings.

- Rock hammering will occur May 11 to June 6. This is the most disruptive part of the project.

Roberts Academy and Dyslexia Center at Vanderbilt |
The Roberts Academy and Dyslexia Center at Vanderbilt continues to make significant progress with the exterior almost complete and interior work underway. The project is on schedule to welcome faculty, staff, and students for the 2026-27 academic year.
