A note from your new Alumni Council president
| |
Hello, Denisonians!
My name is Josh Williams, and I recently began my two-year term as Alumni Council president. Part of the Council’s mission statement charges us with serving as a diverse group of informed representatives, acting as a conduit between the broader alumni body and the university.
It is my goal over the next two years to strengthen the Alumni Council’s diversity and representative functions, and I look forward to meeting and working with many of you to help us achieve that.
To any current students who might be reading this: I know this upcoming year is not what you had envisioned for your college experience. While some things may be different, know that what has made Denison such a special place for so many of us will be remaining the same: the people. From fellow classmates to faculty, staff, and administrators ... Denison’s biggest strength is the people you will be interacting with daily. Embrace those interactions, and together, you will get through this. Best of luck in the new academic year!
Josh Williams ’07

The New Denison Launch Lab Disrupts the College-to-Career Model
| |
Denison University launches a next-generation model for college career preparation, the Denison Launch Lab, a dynamic space for students to learn with businesses on their home turf — in downtown Columbus.
The Launch Lab brings together academics, education technology firms, entrepreneurs, and enterprises of all sorts to develop the next generation of career exploration, preparation, and launch programs. It offers an array of career-related boot camps, internship and project experiences, and skills training workshops designed to help students learn the fundamentals of workplace culture.
It also provides support for Denison faculty who want to connect students and their coursework to resources and experiences in Columbus. As Ohio’s capital city continues to grow at a rapid pace, the number of opportunities to connect is increasing, too.
Fully funded by a grant from the Austin E. Knowlton Foundation, the Launch Lab allows the Knowlton Center to give Denison students a level of career exploration, preparation, and launch support that far exceeds what most colleges can offer their students.
