Good Evening,
Northeast
Today, we heard promos on Sarkes Tarzian's Alternative/WGBJ (102.3fm, Auburn) telling listeners that the simulcast with their 99.5fm frequency will end this Thursday. The 99.5fm is both WAJI-HD2 (95.1-HD2fm, Fort Wayne) and translator W258BY (99.5fm, Fort Wayne). "Alt 99.5" launched in September 2015, after Sarkes paid $190,000 for the translator.
Northcentral
Two years ago, Olivia Ray joined Sinclair's CBS and FOX affiliates/WSBT-TV (Channel 22, South Bend) and was one of their sports anchors and reporters. Now, Ms. Ray exits WSBT and next month, will become a sports reporter for Nexstar's CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis).
Northwest
Northwest Indiana Public Broadcasting's PBS affiliate WYIN-TV (Channel 56, Gary) returns to full power with a new digital transmitter. A mid-July 2018 violent thunderstorm damaged the transmitter and took the station off-air. The owners made multiple attempts at getting the station back on the air, throughout the past year. Among other challenges, the TV repack has made available tower crews a scarce commodity.
Central
Nexstar's CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis) welcomes Demie Johnson as a reporter. Ms. Johnson last worked in Lafayette for Heartland Media's CBS affiliate/WLFI-TV (Channel 18). WLFI and WISH were sister TV stations, owned by LIN Media, and then Media General. A divestiture in 2016 broke up the common ownership after the $4.6 billion merger between Nexstar and Media General.
Dispatch Broadcasting's NBC affiliate WTHR-TV (Channel 13, Indianapolis) reporter Anna Carrera exits. Ms. Carrera joined WTHR-TV in April 2017 from Champaign, Illinois (WCIA-TV).
Where Are They Now? Former WTLC & WTLC-FM programmer and on-air personality Kelly Mac now programs for Cumulus at KTCX-FM in Beaumont, Texas.
