Dear Red Wolves:
Dr. Phil Hestand leads our Student Counseling Center that works with Pack Support, particularly on issues related to mental health and the wellbeing of our students. I asked him a few days ago how I could best help our A-State family cope with the tremendous mental strain that all of us are under. What he had to say was so spot-on, I decided to just let his words speak to all of us.
With continued, extensive coverage of the coronavirus pandemic, some of us are feeling extra stress and worry at this time. When things seem uncertain or threatening, it is normal to feel a sense of alarm. That’s our mind and body telling us we should take action to protect ourselves and those we care about. While we may not be able to control all the events happening around us right now, there are actions we can take to manage our mental health during troubling times.
