Good Evening:
From the Reading Pile: FCC eyes Radio Station ownership as next deregulation target.
Northwest
Dave North exits as PD at Star City Broadcasting's Country/WYCM (95.7fm, Attica), but remains with the cluster, as Chief Photographer for their sister TV stations WPBI-LD (Channel 16, Lafayette) which airs FOX on their .1, NBC on their .2 and ABC on their .3. ABC also airs on their WPBY-LD (Channel 35, Lafayette) along with a channel share of Me-TV and MyNetworkTV on 35.2.
Mr. North continues his evening show ("North At Night") on Adult Hits/WBPE (95.3.fm, Brookston). Sister CHR/WAZY (96.5fm, Lafayette) PD Boomer adds WYCM PD responsibilities.
Eastcentral
Ball State University files a silent STA with the FCC for their WBSJ (91.7fm, Portland), citing a transmitter failure. In their FCC filing, Ball State mentions that WBSJ covers "a somewhat sparsely populated area," and the university doesn't have the budget for a new transmiter. Will Ball State perhaps look for a buyer of this 2kW Class A station? It was December 1997 when Ball State University added WBSJ to their Indiana Public Radio network.
Southwest
In 1995, The Bob and Tom Show began syndicating their morning show from Indianapolis. The show recently added Cromwell's Classic Rock/WCJZ (105.7fm, Cannelton). Over in Evansville, the show airs on Townsquare's Rock/WGBF-FM (103.1fm, Henderson, Kentucky).
