Happy Composting!
The Garbage to Garden Team

State Theatre Summer Concert Series at Thompson's Point

For five years, in an effort to minimize the waste generated at Thompson Point concerts, State Theatre is teaming up with Garbage to Garden to provide zero-waste sorting stations and a team to facilitate the sorting of compost, recycling, and trash at events.

Join a team of Garbage to Garden staff and volunteers to monitor waste stations and help concert-goers properly sort their waste and keep the venue tidy. Volunteers get free access to the show and a GtG t-shirt to wear at the event!

East End Community Garden

Led by Cultivating Community, volunteers will be working on several projects designed on permaculture principles to help make the garden more productive and beautiful and be a great learning space.
All you need is a positive attitude to come do some garden work, learn, and spend time with the community. We ask that you commit at least 2 hours of your time to the project for Garbage to Garden volunteer credit.

Produce Distributions
with the Locker Project
The Locker Project manages food pantries in schools, providing food for children who are food-insecure to take food home with them. Join the Locker Project in July to help distribute fresh produce and non-perishable food items.
Volunteers help arrange produce and groceries on tables, then assist students and parents with bagging the food up to take home. You will be a welcoming presence, making sure people know they are invited to take food. Everyone is invited to bring food home with them. This a great way to de-stigmatize free food distributions, particularly in the case of fresh food that would otherwise get wasted.
