Halloween weekend will bring a number of exciting events for students both on campus and in Isla Vista: a free concert, roller skating, movies, Dia de Los Muertos celebrations, and more! We hope you will encourage your student to look for announcements in their university email and respect the community's wishes to "Keep it Local, Keep it Safe" by not inviting out of town visitors or hosting large gatherings.

Resource of the Month: Cybersecurity
| |
Did you know that October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month? As we get back into the swing of the school year, it's essential for all Gauchos to keep cybersecurity in mind. Whether your student is participating in a remote class, purchasing a textbook online, or browsing for housing or job opportunities, it’s crucial to stay cyber-safe.
Students should be aware of common scams like phishing and social engineering. They should also be cautious of unexpected emails or messages asking for personal information, especially passwords, and always verify the source before clicking on links or downloading attachments. Remember, cybersecurity is everyone's responsibility. For additional guidance on keeping UCSB accounts secure, encourage your student to review UCSB Information Technology’s back-to-school scams and safety tips.
