As part of a grant from the School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC) to investigate how science fiction can be used to explore the ethics of astrobiology and space exploration, Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellows Zita Hüsing and Lainie Pomerleau hosted a table featuring science fiction games, activities, and flyers created by their students for National Astronomy Day at the Tellus Museum of Science.

Kelly Ritter (Literature, Media, and Communication) delivered two keynotes on first-generation student writers in higher education: one at the Conference for Basic Writing at the 2024 Conference on College Composition and Communication in Spokane, Washington, and a second at the Southern Regional Composition Conference in Oklahoma City.

Five faculty members from the School of Modern Languages presented their research at the 2024 ISLSP and CIBER Conference at George Washington University. Hyoun-A Joo, Sophie Landrieux Kartochian, Britta Kallin, Stuart Minson, and Brigitte Stepanov discussed teaching sustainable development in the world language classroom. Joo also presented on intercultural communication, and Kartochian shared best practices for business language education.
