Notre Dame International organizes a Global Day of Action

Pope Francis calls on humanity to care for our common home in his encyclical Laudato Si'. That's also the theme of Notre Dame Forum. Last week, Notre Dame students, faculty and staff around the world took part in a Global Day of Action as part of the forum and to call attention to global warming and sustainability. (More...)

Father Jenkins comments on Donnelly nomination as ambassador to Holy See

University President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., extended his congratulations to Notre Dame alumnus and former U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly on his nomination as U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, calling him, "An ideal choice to represent the U.S. at the Vatican." (AP story)

University celebrates Founders' Day today, tomorrow

Early in the University’s history, Founders’ Day was a campus-wide celebration on the feast day (Oct. 13) of Edward the Confessor, patron saint of Rev. Edward Sorin, C.S.C., the Holy Cross priest who founded Notre Dame. Notre Dame is reviving the celebration as an opportunity to consider our history, understand our present and imagine our future. His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I

The University of Notre Dame is honored to welcome His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, spiritual leader of Eastern Orthodox Christians worldwide and courageous champion of environmental stewardship, migrants, and religious liberty. Join University President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., as the University bestows an honorary degree upon Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on October 28 at 5:15 p.m. The convocation is free and open to members of the University community but ticketed, and seating in the Basilica is limited. Dames first ND representative to be named ARL president

K. Matthew Dames, the Edward H. Arnold University Librarian at Notre Dame, launched his term as the 61st president of the Association of Research Libraries this month. ARL is a nonprofit organization of 125 research libraries in Canada and the U.S. Dames is the first member representative from Notre Dame to be president. (More...)

Clark first researcher in state to receive NIH Pioneer Award

Patricia L. Clark, the Rev. John Cardinal O’Hara, C.S.C., Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and associate vice president for research at Notre Dame, has received a Director’s Pioneer Award from the National Institutes of Health. The award is given to exceptionally creative scientists advancing high-risk, high-impact research. (More...
