UNO College of Business Administration’s faculty and staff participated in the Krewe of UNO Mardi Gras parade, Tuesday, February 14th. The parade theme was “Love on the Lakefront.” COBA participants were greeted with crowds of students along the parade route. The parade ended with a king cake social at the University Center.

The Business Career Coaching Center's (BCCC) "Spotlight the Employer" Series kicked off with Gulf Coast Bank. Carlos Bellos spoke to UNO College of Business students about how to best interview for their amazing internship program.

Meetings Professional International (MPI) Gulf States invited HRT Associate Professor, Dr. Bridget Bordelon to speak on the topic of diversity, inclusion and accommodations within the Hospitality and Tourism industry. Assistant Professor, Dr. Ian Li also provided current data and trends from the perspective of LGBTQ+ employees and customers. David Piscola, general manager of the Hilton New Orleans Riverside provided lunch and an incredible venue for this well-attended educational seminar.

Dr. Kabir Hassan was elected as the Southwest Decision Sciences Institute (SWDI) Program Chair Elect. This organization is a subdivision of the Decision Sciences Institute, Inc., a non-profit professional organization. The Decision Sciences Institute is an interdisciplinary association of professionals committed to the understanding and improvement of decision making in organizations and to the development of scholar teachers in the decision sciences. The Institute provides an international forum for the exchange of research in the decision sciences across disciplines, seeks to promote and integrate theoretical and applied research and is an outlet for the publication and dissemination of current thinking in the decision sciences.

| Leslie Boissiere was appointed to the National Board of Directors at Playworks where she oversees the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s KIDS COUNT effort. She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1990.

Marques Colston to Serve as Keynote Speaker for the Homer L. Hitt Presidential Distinguished Lecture Series

Save the Date for the Homer L. Hitt Presidential Distinguished Lecture Series. The event will take place on the evening of Wednesday, April 19th. This year’s keynote speaker is Marques Colston, former New Orleans Saints star receiver turned entrepreneur. He will discuss his methodology, “Creating a Separation is a Mindset.” The event is free and open to everyone. More details to come.
