New Year, New RMD

(Required Minimum Distribution)
It's a new year! That means many individuals must begin taking a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) starting at age 73, depending on birth year and account type. Meanwhile, anyone age 70.5 or older may make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from their IRA to Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc. (Tax ID 58-1406831) to:
  • Add to an existing eligible endowment* including scholarships, designated endowments, memorial endowments, and community endowments.
  • Create a new endowment (you decide the name of the endowment and the charitable purpose).
QCDs are a tax-advantageous way for seniors to give. Start the year off by putting your RMD to work for the causes you care about.

Give us a call to learn more: 910-483-4449 Maddie Kellogg x107 or Mary Holmes x103.

*Per the IRS, QCDs cannot be made into a donor advised fund

Cumberland Community Foundation is pleased to announce that five local nonprofit organizations received a total of $100,540 in grants through our fall grant cycle.
These grants support programs that improve health, independence, and quality of life for older adults and individuals managing chronic health conditions across Cumberland County. Funded initiatives include arts programming for seniors, diabetes education and management, caregiver respite services, clinical training for future nurses, and essential housing and nutrition support to help seniors live safely and independently.
We’re proud to invest in organizations that strengthen care systems, support caregivers, and enhance well-being, ensuring that our community’s older adults receive the resources and support they need to thrive.

Kicking Off 2026 Nonprofit Trainings
