🪞 Mirror, Mirror on the Wall… 🪞
The Comprehensive Eating Disorder Program at the William Magee Center is recognizing Eating Disorder Awareness Month by placing a Body Appreciation Mirror (BAM!) around campus throughout February. Look for the mirror and write something you appreciate about your body on it in marker! Maybe you love your ability to sing, swim or make others laugh. The possibilities are endless. We encourage all students to use this month as a reminder that we are all so much more than the outward appearance of our bodies. Do you or a peer need support related to an eating disorder? If so, register here.
😌 Mind Over Matter 😌
The beginning of the semester can be overwhelming. The University Counseling Center is here to help. Here are five tips to support yourself through the spring semester.
Plan it out – Keep a planner full of due dates to be aware of and set goals to meet your deadlines.
Take care of your body – Challenge yourself to get enough sleep and eat well. Taking care of your body is an important step in caring for your mental health.
Do what you enjoy – Make time for your interests. Being a student does not mean you can’t take time to enjoy your favorite hobbies.
Take a break! – Sometimes school can get in the way of your social life, but staying connected to loved ones can help your mental health.
Be present – The semester can move quickly, so don’t forget to take time to be present in your surroundings and enjoy the little things.
If you need more support, call the University Counseling Center at 662-915-3784 and set up an appointment.
🗣 Educate Others! 🗣
Since the new semester has rolled around, it's time for Peer Educator applications! With Rallying Against Sexual Assault (RASA), peer educators present in classes, table events and talk with the UM student community. Becoming a peer educator is a great way to be actively involved in both the organization and campus community. Submit your application by Feb. 4 at 11:59 p.m.
The Gilman International Scholarship application is now live and taking applications through March 1! Applicants must be Pell Grant recipients applying for a UM study abroad program. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $7,000! The Study Abroad Application Deadline for Summer and Fall Programs is March 2!
Want to spend the weekend at the Square without having to think about Uber/Lyft accommodations? The Safe Ride program is a shuttle service that travels from the Square to multiple spots on campus, Thursday-Saturday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Stay safe getting home!
Apply to be a Community Assistant in one of the 16 residence halls around campus. The application closes on April 1.
