Due to weather, we've rescheduled our Coffee with the Pastor for this Sunday, February 1.

Big House Books Update

The team at Big House Books sends their gratitude to the members of Parkway Hills UMC! With your help, they were able to provide over 18,000 books to incarcerated readers across Mississippi in 2025 - their most powerful impact to date. Your donated books, monetary contributions and volunteer support has helped promote literacy, education and hope through the power of reading.
PHUMC members helped to pack and ship 500 books at the recent MLK Day book packing party! (There are book-packing parties each Sunday from 12-2 pm at 133 Millsaps Avenue in Jackson- contact Mary Lee Reed for more info)
We collect your donations of paperback books in the foyer of the Education Building. The most requested categories are Trades/Skills/Educational titles, Paranormal Fiction, Westerns, Urban Fiction, and any currently popular authors such as Greg Iles, Colleen Hoover, Lisa Jackson, Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Right now the most urgent need is covering the cost to mail deliveries to eager readers inside Mississippi's correctional facilities. A donation of any amount is appreciated - use the donate button below. Thank you for supporting this community!

In English, the phrase Becas con Bendiciones means
“Scholarships with Blessings.”
Our January Communion gifts will supply scholarships that provide the opportunity for education for children in Honduras.Though public school in Honduras is technically "free" to attend, there are uniform requirements, shoes, sports clothing for P.E. classes, matriculation fees, maintenance fees, and basic school supplies which put formal education out of the reach of many children. In January 2006 PHUMC's Wednesday night children's program studied United Methodist missions in Honduras, learning a little Spanish, sampling some Honduran foods, and discovering that kids in Honduras got only four or five years of schooling because their parents couldn't afford to pay for uniforms, school supplies, and fees. So our kids jumped in to help. They began collecting change at home and at church, made announcements to the congregation, decorated collection boxes for Wednesday night supper tables, and quickly raised $300 for "Scholarships with Blessings" to help kids in Honduras stay in school longer. Since that beginning in 2006, Parkway Hills has sponsored dozens of Honduran children. We receive thank-you letters and pictures from our sponsored kids every year, which you can view in the foyer of the worship center. They are so grateful for our support! Last year we provided 18 scholarships. A gift of $120 provides 100% of the school-related needs for a child in this program.
Thank you for giving generously!
