NeighborWorks sends West Scranton team to Comunity Leadership Institute
We recently sent seven community leaders and one staff member to attend the NeighborWorks America Community Leadership Institute (CLI) program in Baltimore, Maryland.

Attendees participate in various workshops, plenaries, regional breakout sessions, and learning labs/mobile tours aimed at empowering resident leaders to positive change in their communities. Our team members will now plan and implement a community improvement project over the next year in West Scranton.

We have West Side representatives from West Scranton High School, the Scranton Area Community Foundation, Bank of America, the City of Scranton and Fidelity Bank. Miranda Pace, our West Scranton Neighborhood Coordinator, serves as staff coordinator for the team.

NeighborWorks hosts realtor luncheon in Poconos
We recently partnered with the Pocono Mountains Association of Realtors (PMAR) to educate members and affiliates on our homebuyer assistance programs available to clients. Our Director of HomeOwnership Services, Pamela Anslinger, led the presentation and we had over 40 participants  attend our luncheon at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Thank you to PMAR for co-hosting with us and to all of our affiliates and attendees for spending the early afternoon with us as we continue our work in Monroe County!

In West Scranton, our team included President & CEO Shane Powers and Community Development Specialist Gerard Hetman. Over in Carbondale, Community Development Specialist Emily Arcaro and Finance Assistant Colleen Sanders were joined by the Mayor of Carbondale and NeighborWorks board member, Michele Bannon.

Take our survey!

Additionally, as part of our work in Carbondale with Blueprint Communities and Carbondale Heart & Soul, we are inviting residents, business owners and visitors to Carbondale to share their thoughts about the community. This survey aims to understand how people feel about key features that create a sense of place in the area and to help guide revitalization efforts. You can take the survey here.
