District 2 Beautification Awards Winner

Council Member David Little was honored to congratulate McMullen Lane Entrance for being named District 2’s Most Outstanding Property during the recent Beautification Awards Ceremony. Each year, the City’s Beautification Board recognizes properties that demonstrate exceptional landscaping, curb appeal and community pride. During the ceremony, 376 properties were recognized.

Huntsville Music Month Rocks September

While Huntsville’s music scene is soaring to unprecedented heights, the highlight each year is Huntsville Music Month in September. More than 200 live music events are scheduled throughout the month at venues across Huntsville. Music Month also includes reformatted events such as LAUNCHPAD and the return of the Rocket City Ramble at AMERICANAFEST in Nashville.

City Council Approves Annexation of Cleary Farm

The City Council approved the annexation of 536.8 acres of land in eastern Madison County near Gurley. The land, known as Cleary Farm, is located on the south side of Little Cove Road and just east of U.S. Hwy 72. Private developers are planning to build 400-500 single-family homes on the newly annexed land.

Tribute to Huntsville Police Hero

The City held a ceremony on Aug. 25 to recognize the installation of signs along U.S. 72 East honoring Huntsville Police Agent Billy Clardy III, who died in the line of duty in 2019 while investigating a large-scale drug trafficking operation. The “Billy Clardy III Memorial Mile” memorializes his service and dedication to helping keep Huntsville safe.

“This memorial mile marker is a permanent reminder that Billy was here, that his service mattered and that the impact he made continues today,” HPD Chief Kirk Giles said.

Jazz in the Park Returns to Big Spring Park Sept. 6

Jazz in the Park, a favorite Huntsville tradition, is back throughout the month of September with free concerts each Sunday in Big Spring Park West. This year’s lineup includes a dynamic mix of national recording artists, rising regional performers and standout local acts. The concerts will be from 5-9 p.m. beginning Sept. 6. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair to enjoy the fun at this free event.

Parks & Recreation's Fall Program Guide

Parks & Recreation’s 2026 Fall Program Guide features more than 150 free activities, workshops and special events that promise fall fun for all ages. Residents can find traditional sports like basketball and pickleball in the guide as well as unique offerings such as card-playing groups, a variety of dance classes and “sew-cial” circles who break out the needle and thread.
