Bridge of Flowers 10k Classic and 3k Charity Races, Saturday, August 12, 2017

Have You Signed Up To Run or Volunteer
for the Benefit of The Academy?

With The Academy being named a Charity Partner of this year’s race, we are still looking for runners to fundraise on behalf of our school and for event volunteers.
If you register to run the 10K race between now and August 9, runners under 19 “Pay Your Age” while runners over 19 pay $45.00. This increases to $50.00 on race day. The same “Pay Your Age” deal applies to the 3k race but pricing before August 9 is $35.00 and increases to $40.00 on race day.  When you register, choose from three fundraising options which can mean a larger benefit for The Academy at Charlemont (options 2 and 3 serve us best!)
Ben Michalak ’17 will be one of the performers on the race route, drumming runners toward the finish line!
If you wish to VOLUNTEER on behalf of The Academy at Charlemont, visit the ACT Volunteer Center site and follow the directions as described on the main page. They are in need of about 19 more volunteers at this point. Register here and choose your volunteer assignment. You will
  1. be trained for your post
  2. receive a FREE T-shirt
  3. be invited to the Spaghetti Fest on Friday, August 11 and to the post-race party following the race.

Registration Information Coming Soon!

Please watch your mail for registration packets, to be sent from The Academy on August 14. Packets will include important documents to be completed prior to Registration on Monday, August 28, 2-5 PM, as well as your child(ren)'s schedules, descriptions of Studio Block classes, NetClassroom log in information, The Scoop, Zoar permission form, bus schedule and athletic information.

Host Families still needed! Please Consider
the Joys of Hosting!

Vroni from Germany will be here in the 10th grade from October 20 to December 21, 2017 as part of the longstanding Charlemont-Erding Exchange. Erding students visit us every year and the American host students then have a chance – if interested – to go to Germany the following summer. The host families on both sides of the Atlantic are expected to provide room and board and are expected to show the student around the region. There is a $500 family stipend available to help defray related expenses. Read Vroni's bio and to learn more about the Erding-Charlemont Exchange in general, please click here and contact Sabine Mauri with questions and your interest.
We have two full-year students who would like to join us for 2-17-2018, Hendrik from Belgium for grade 12 and Worapon from Thailand for grade 11. If you’d like to learn more about these students, please read their bios provided by PAX and contact Academy parent (13, 16) and PAX program coordinator Jackie Walsh or by phone at 413-625-9413.

ACADEMY PARENTS COUNCIL AUCTION PLANNING TEAM  AT WORK

The Cornucopia Auction and Social planning team is meeting over the summer to get ready for this year's event (November 4).  To encourage even better attendance, this year we'll be offering a "buy two tickets and get a free friend ticket".  Tickets will be available at registration and can be billed to your Academy account.
In order to make the event fresh and exciting each year we ask parents to suggest new donors to solicit. If you have ideas, please send them along to Phoebe Walker P17, 20.  Phoebe is also happy to answer general questions about the event and let you know how you can get involved.

CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS!

The Academy has a Shutterfly account where parents can share their photos of games, concerts, plays, and other school events.  If you're interested in uploading pictures - which may be used for Bulletins, on the website, in the Grove, and in other publications - please contact Steph Powers.

Donations of Musical Instruments Wanted

To help students in our Studio Block music programs, The Academy is looking for ukuleles, steel string acoustic guitars, and 61-76 key portable keyboards. We promise to put your donations to good use! All instruments should be in good and usable condition (we'll change strings, so don't worry about tuning up guitars so much as dusting them off).
If you happen to have any of these hidden away in your home and wish to donate them to The Academy, please contact Neale Gay, to arrange for a drop off at school, in Greenfield or in Northampton. Thank you!
