Landlord and Tenant Communication

We encourage all landlords to communicate the following information to current and prospective tenants:
  1. The UWM Coronavirus Information Page is updated with new developments and information weekly, including the decision of whether classes will be online, in person, or a hybrid format in the fall.
  2. As some higher education institutions begin to reopen, geographic location, size and structure must be considered to meet the unique needs and circumstances of the institution and local community. The City of Milwaukee is currently in Phase 3 of COVID-19 Orders, meaning the types of businesses and activities allowed to resume will expand under CDC guidelines.
  3. UWM’s Neighborhood Housing Office is available to assist students and first-time renters through understanding their tenant rights and responsibilities. The Neighborhood Housing Office is currently hosting virtual visits.

Update from UWM

UWM will not be enforcing the residency requirement for Fall 2020 new students. This means new students coming to UWM in the fall will not be required to live on campus their first year.
