Few feelings can match the start of a fall term on a university campus. Sure, many of us came to Baylor most days this summer, rolled into our offices, conducted our research and the university's business. We kept vigil over these hallowed grounds in their fallowed state. But dear students, it's never the same without you.
Baylor is bigger than any of us, but it is not Baylor without us. This marks the 181st fall semester if my maths are correct, which means that although things feel new once again, the truth is that we enter this school year in the flow of traditions that predate us and will likely outlast us. Whether it's your first year as a student or your fiftieth as a faculty member, we all enter the 2026-27 academic year with the same privilege, the same opportunity: to steward this great institution and to participate, together, in the learning, discovery, and formation it will offer us. Each of us, all of us, have the chance to offer those gifts back in turn: to serve our neighbor and promote the flourishing of a world that is desperate for the wisdom, love, and ingenuity we can extend. The Office of Engaged Learning is here to help you do just that.
