NASA Provides Update on Artemis III Moon Landing Regions

Brad Jolliff, Scott Rudolph Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences in Arts & Sciences at WashU and Director of the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences, is a member of the Artemis III geology team. The team evaluated lunar landing regions for their scientific potential. 

A High-Tech Way to Track an Age-Old Problem

Students from  the "Geospatial Field Methods" course (EEPS 468) traveled to Tyson Research Center to collect high-resolution images of the Meramec River as its floodwatrs crested after a storm earlier in the week dumped up to 12 inches of rain on parts of eastern Missouri. Bill Winston and Alex Bradley co-teach the class.

Fire & Ice

From the icy ends of the Earth to the tropics, scientists across disciplines are using radar, big data, and other tools to help us better understand our changing planet. 

Research by MCSS fellows Doug Wiens, Roger Michaelides, Bronwen Konecky, and Michael Wysession is highlighted.

EEPS bestows this award to graduate students who are the sole or first author of a peer-reviewed, published journal paper or book chapter that significantly advances our understanding of a key aspect of Earth, environmental, and/or planetary sciences.

MCSS Postdoctoral Fellowship Opening

MCSS is hiring a postdoctoral fellow in the broad field of space sciences. We welcome applicants with interests in Astromaterials, Cosmochemistry, or Meteoritics; Experimental, Theoretical, or Observational Astrophysics; Planetary Science; Particle and Nuclear Physics, Cosmology and Gravitation; and Earth as a Planet. In their application materials, the candidate should describe their research interests and list potential collaborators from among the faculty fellows of the MCSS.
