On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the College of Education proudly welcomed its newest group of future educators during the Educator Preparation Program Induction held at Austin Hall. Congratulations to these students on achieving this exciting milestone!

The Garrett Center hosted "Taking the Next Step: High School Student + Family Night" in collaboration with Grimes County Special Education Cooperative on January 15, 2026.

Dr. Christina Gushanas, assistant professor of Special Education and executive director of the Garrett Center, and Dr. Mady Mathis, GC project coordinator, helped students and families explore the various education options after high school (trade school, college, and university), and sign up for free postsecondary support through the Pathways to Success initiative. With support from Ashley Sherrod, GC admin coordinator, the event recruited 4 more students and their families for PTS. Way to go team!

A Time 2 Read

This semester the Graduate and Professional School will continue to offer $250 Writing and Accountability scholarships. Students who participate in the below groups will be entered for a chance to win a $250 scholarship offered by the Graduate and Professional School.

This semester, the Graduate and Professional School will continue to offer $250 Career Readiness Scholarships. One of the requirements to receive this scholarship is to attend a TGPS resume or LinkedIn consultation. 

All graduate students who are registered in thesis or dissertation writing courses are encouraged to attend the following workshop. Registration links for the workshops can be found on the TGPS webpage.

The following hands-on sessions are designed to equip students with practical skills for academic writing and research.

In addition to the above, we offer many other resources to support graduate student success. For a complete list, please visit the Graduate and Professional School webpage.

The Graduate & Professional School is pleased to announce the inaugural Graduate Student Research Showcase this semester and to request your assistance in promoting participation across your programs.

The Graduate Research Showcase celebrates graduate scholarship and provides an opportunity for our graduate students to share research and engage in interdisciplinary academic exchange.

Submissions from all disciplines and at any stage of research are welcome. Graduate students can present their research in two formats – oral presentations and poster presentations. Oral presentations may be done in-person or virtually.

Please share the call for presentations with graduate students and faculty members in your program and encourage them to participate. The Graduate and Professional School will be awarding four $1000 scholarships to presenters. We are also looking for faculty members to volunteer as session moderators for the oral presentations at the graduate research showcase. If you or someone you know may be interested, please let me know.
