Guidance During the Federal Government Shutdown
GW leadership, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR), and campus partners are closely monitoring the federal government shutdown and its potential impact on research. While most sponsored projects will remain unaffected in the short-term, disruptions may occur if the work relies on access to federal facilities or requires guidance from agency staff. OVPR has issued additional guidance for investigators with active federal awards.
Upholding ethical research practices is central to GW’s scholarly mission and a shared responsibility. OVPR invites faculty, staff, postdocs and students to join sessions on key Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) topics. These hybrid interactive sessions are designed to meet federal RCR training requirements and include faculty-led presentations, real-world case studies and facilitated discussion.

New Guides on Evaluating Research Data Integrity |
Reliable data is the foundation of trustworthy research. Whether you're analyzing public health trends or evaluating economic policies, using accurate datasets ensures your conclusions are sound, reproducible, and ethically defensible. GW Libraries and Academic Innovation has created an introductory guide on common data integrity issues for those just starting to explore data quality, integrity, and its real-world consequences. For scholars seeking more advanced techniques in data validation, forensic analysis, or reproducibility workflows, see the guide on identifying vulnerable or altered datasets.

Spotlight on Undergraduate Research

Transcript Recognition for Undergraduate Research Experiences |
Administered by the Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research (CUFR), the Transcript Recognition program allows GW undergraduates to get formal recognition of scholarly and creative achievements on their official transcripts. To qualify, students must complete at least two significant scholarly or creative activities, write a reflection on their experience and growth as a scholar, and submit a recommendation from their faculty mentor(s). Help students showcase their accomplishments and elevate their academic profiles by promoting this opportunity in your classes and advising sessions!

Promote Student Success with CUFR Peer Ambassadors |
The CUFR Peer Ambassador program connects students with experienced peers who can guide them through opportunities in undergraduate research, national awards, and GW’s internal funding programs. Each ambassador has firsthand experience applying for or receiving prestigious awards and conducting research, making them valuable resources for a student's academic and professional development. Ambassadors are available for classroom presentations, individual and small group advising, or tabling at campus events. Book a session with a CUFR Peer Ambassador.
