Dear Partner in Ministry,
In his letter to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul exhorted this fledgling new worshipping community to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." The beauty about bearing one another's burdens is that when they are shared, they become less burdensome. In community, we are reminded that no matter what we face-from death to illness to divorce to addiction to experiences of great joy-we never face it alone. Not only is God present, but a community representing Jesus' hands and feet yearns to carry, sustain, love, and enliven us, too.
In conversations over the past few years, we have heard a desire to grow more deeply as a congregation-and to truly share life together. Friendships have blossomed through the establishment of small groups, retreats, and other fellowship opportunities. But even still, moves, illnesses, births and deaths often slip through the cracks and we only find out about the burdens and joys that this community is carrying later. In an effort to remedy that, the GPC Care Team is thrilled to announce the launch of GPC Joys and Concerns, a new biweekly newsletter beginning June 1st. Each issue will share congregational news — marriages, births, graduations, moves, new jobs, surgeries, deaths, and other milestones — so we can celebrate and support one another well.
All current Top 5 subscribers will be automatically enrolled, with the option to opt out any time. Have something you'd like to share for our first issue? To submit news, fill out the Care and Support Form or email the Care Team.
with joy and thanksgiving for the life we share together,
Meghan
