A day of family fun at the West Scranton Fall Festival
| |
We had a wonderful time sharing in the fun at Clover Field and Allen Park for the inaugural West Scranton Fall Festival on Saturday, October 22nd! NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania hosted the festival in collaboration with the City of Scranton and presented by PNC Bank. Activities across the day included food and entertainment, children’s activities, yard games, a fire pit, s'mores, live music and more. Over 700 people attended the festival.
A big thank you to our sponsors, but especially our presenting sponsor PNC Bank and gold sponsors Citizens Savings Bank and Posture Interactive. Food vendors were El Buen Amigo, Paradise Soulfood & Sweets LLC and Carolyn's Corner Carnival, along with Bartari serving as an alcohol vendor. Live music was provided by Jack Bordo & Jim Cullen (joined by Sharon Ambrozia) and Grupo Zona.
An additional thank you to the many volunteers during the event including NeighborWorks board/staff & friends, West Scranton High School, University of Scranton Physical Therapy Department, Fidelity Bank, Children Hunger Outreach Project, Play and Learning Lab, Job Corps, Brianna Keeler - Comparion Insurance Agent, and Scranton Story.

October Paint the Town a countywide success
| |
Our Paint the Town volunteer service event was a great success this month, with a week of hands-on on activities helping seniors in the Greater Lackawanna area. Paint the Town provides volunteers the opportunity to assist older adults in northeastern Pennsylvania to continue residing in their homes and communities safely and with dignity.
Ten older adult headed households throughout Lackawanna County were provided small home repair services, exterior painting, and yard maintenance from 50 volunteers representing seven businesses and organizations. Approximately 305 hours of service went into making the event a success, with over $9,000 worth of volunteer labor performed.
Volunteers from The AZEK Company provided 210 hours of service through the participation of 27 volunteer employees, with over $6,000 worth of volunteer labor performed. Also providing volunteers to complete the repairs for older adults were FNB Bank, the University of Scranton’s Physical Therapy Department, Connect Church, City Lights Church, Agency for Community EmPOWERment of NEPA, and individual friends of NeighborWorks.
Stay tuned for the details of our next community service event!
