The Flame of Hope coming through Oklahoma on way to 2015 World Games
The Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America presented by Bank of America, will mobilize and unite the nation to welcome and include people with intellectual disabilities. Over the course of 46 days, in a hand-to-hand exchange led by celebrity and Special Olympics athlete co-captains and more than 20,000 movement supporters, the Flame of Hope will be carried across the country and delivered to Los Angeles for the 2015 Word Summer Games.
Every day, people come together through Special Olympics and change the world through sport to create respectful and inclusive communities, the Flame of Hope acts as the beacon to unite communities in acceptance. Unified Relay is a team based event. Teams of 1 to 15 people will have the opportunity to walk, jog, run, or roll (rollerblade, skateboard, wheelchair) a 1/2 mile segment or cycle a 5 mile segment. Your team will be carrying the Flame of Hope, brought all the way to the United States from Athens, Greece.
