OCAq Welcomes Striped Skunk Brothers |
We are so excited to introduce you all to Jackson and Palmer!
These striped skunk brothers are the newest members of our ambassador animal program. They can be told apart by their white stripes—Jackson has thicker stripes than Palmer, and he has white spots under each leg. They were born at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado in 2023, making them just over a year old. Raised to be ambassadors, they work alongside our educators to teach the public about their wild counterparts. You can get to know Jackson and Palmer in the Aquarium lobby at 3:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 🦨

Want to help support the brothers? In light of Jackson and Palmer's debut, we now offer the striped skunk as an adoption option! Symbolic adoptions are a gift for you and a gift for them: each purchase directly going towards the care of our animals.

Matching Makes A Difference
|
The Marcia H. Randall Foundation has gifted $500,000 to the Aquarium to support the construction of its Marine Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. The Foundation has also issued a $500,000 matching challenge grant, bringing the total donation to $1 million once the match is met.
The Foundation will match all gifts and pledges made to the Aquarium’s wildlife rehabilitation fund between June 1 and Dec. 31 2024, up to $500,000, doubling the impact of each dollar donated.

Get Loud About Animal Birthdays!
|
This month we celebrate California sea lions Catalina (11) and Rosa (10)! We also have a flock of feathered friends to celebrate this month, since summer is seabird hatching season—stop by our Seabird Aviary to say happy birdday to our murres, guillemots, and puffins! And be sure to join an ambassador animal presentation to wish Wilson the barn owl a happy 6th hatchday!
Want to help celebrate some of these birthday animals? Don't forget, many of our animals are available for animal adoption! Proceeds from our adoptions go directly towards the continued care and support for our animals.
