How to Spend $2.6B Dollars?

Good news is that indications are the Paycheck Protection Program forgiveable loans that have been a lifeline for businesses across Steele County and Minnesota will conform to the federal tax code.  This means MN won't tax those revenues to business.  What about the rest?   
Minnesota Senator John Jasinski met with the Chamber Policy committee to discuss end of session.  He also discussed the workforce shortages and those challenges facing business.
Ambassadors Cut Ribbon on New Mohs Headquarters
Ambassadors from the visited with member businesses Mohs Contracting and Mohs Homes, 1330 State AVE NW in Owatonna to attend the ribbon cutting of their new company headquarters. Scott Mohs is the president. Mohs Contracting specializes in complete start to finish commercial construction for all types of projects from storefront rehabs to new construction. Mohs Homes believes in building stronger---empowering the homeowner throughout the process to enjoy a quality home.

Ambassadors visited with Insperity, to welcome them as a new member. Jennifer Libby is the area Business Performance Advisor. Insperity helps business owners outsource their Human Resources to contain costs on medical, provide administrative relief and create efficiencies on all things Human Resources. They help companies run better, grow faster and make more money by providing strategic Human Resources strategies.

SpareTime to host June After Hours

Join the chamber and member business SpareTime Entertainment, 333 SE 18th ST, Owatonna on Tuesday, May 25th for After Hours starting at 5:30 pm. All members are invited to participate, no pre-registration required.  Event program to begin at 6 pm and drawing amount is at $100 in chamber dollars!

Congratulations to Shirley Schultz, MainStreet Director who has announced her retirement effective June 30, 2021.  For the last 4 years Shirley has led the MainStreet Owatonna initiatives including: MainStreet America Strategic Plan, Downtown Thursdays, Wayfinding, EDA Façade programs, Streetscape planning, Flower Basket program, Farmers Market, OBP work and much more.  We will give Shirley a proper send off, but wanted you to know her plans.  Thank you Shirley!

Thank You to Tri M Graphics

Thank you to Mike Jensen and the entire team at Tri M Graphics for the outstanding work in developing the public relations campaign for the Streetscape construction project that will be starting in June on North Cedar. 
This theme/brand can be used throughout the project and can be used in other ways related to the high school project, industrial park and others.  Tool kits for businesses will be availalbe along with a social media and website plan.  

Join Young Professionals for a mixology class and learn how to make summer cocktails with Riley from La Crosse Distilling Company.  This class will teach you how to make craft cocktails using ingredients from local liquor stores or some you may already have on hand.

A groundbreaking on the transformational projects downtown will happen on Thursday, June 3rd @ 5pm in the vacant lot on 200 N. Cedar.  It's celebrating $30M invested in the new Marriott Courtyard Hotel, Restaurant, Pearl Apartments, Old Town Bagels and Streetscape project.  You are invited to attend!

The Owatonna Community Leadership Academy (OCLA) is ready to take interested applications for the program.
OCLA program is designed to enable candidates to learn about Owatonna resources, values, strengths, weaknesses, and challenges.  A learning experience geared toward providing an in-dept look at eight key elements of our community; education, economic development, government, healthcare, public safety, quality of life, agri-business and culture & diversity.  This program will provide opportunities for candidates to exchange ideas, build networks and begin the process of identifying and solving important community issues.

Now is the time to synchronize your watches to 10 pm, Sunday, July 4, 2021 at the Steele County Fairgrounds for the most fabulous fireworks ever - we call this mission: "Fireworks & Fun in 2021!".
