Resources for Families During SFUSD School Closure
|
|
|
Free Meals for Youth Under Age 18. DCYF's community partners will distribute free breakfast and lunch at sites throughout San Francisco. A full list of sites, including addresses, serving times, meal types, and the number of meals available, is posted on a page on the SFGov website that can be translated into Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Filipino, and Vietnamese.

Citywide Summer Resource Fair: February 21
|
|
|
|
The annual San Francisco Summer Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the SF County Fair Building from 11am to 2pm. The Summer Resource Fair connects representatives from 100 summer programs, camps, and services for children and youth in grades K-8 with San Franciscans who are kicking off summer planning for their families.

District 10 Summer Resource Fair
|
|
|
|
The District 10 Summer Resource Fair is a new, free event hosted by DCYF, the SF Public Utilities Commission, and the Southeast Community Facility Commission that will connect children, youth, and families who live in Bayview, Hunters Point, Visitacion Valley, Sunnydale, Dogpatch, and other southeast San Francisco neighborhoods with summer programs, summer jobs for youth, and other helpful services and resources.
The District 10 Summer Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Southeast Community Center (1550 Evans Avenue) from 11am to 2pm.
The Fair will feature representatives from 50 San Francisco agencies who will share information about summer programs, jobs, and resources for children and youth ages 0 to 24 and their families.

| SF Public Utilities Commission's Project Pull Internship Program
Project Pull is a paid summer internship program for incoming high school juniors, seniors, and college-bound freshman. Its mission is to provide professional guidance to students from the diverse communities of San Francisco. Through work experience and weekly enrichment activities, interns learn life skills and values in creativity, integrity, leadership, teamwork, and self-empowerment - building a strong foundation for future success in college and their careers. Hurry: applications are due by Friday, February 13, 2026!

| Breakthrough Leadership Program
BLPs are high school students who serve as leaders and role models for rising fifth through eighth graders during Breakthrough's summer academic program. They support students throughout the day by co-teaching electives, helping with tutoring, lunch, and recess, leading Breakthrough activities, and assisting with special events, while building their own leadership skills. Early action applications are due by February 21, 2026.

| SFUSD Superintendent's 21st Century Scholarship Awards
SFUSD is currently accepting applications from graduating seniors for their Superintendent's 21st Century Scholarship Awards. Six members of the SFUSD Class of 2026 will each receive a $2,000 scholarship. Applications are due by February 27, 2026.

| Careers in Science Program at the California Academy of Sciences
Careers in Science is a multi-year, year-round, science education and youth development opportunity for San Francisco high school students who come from communities underrepresented in STEM. In a paid position that lasts 2-3 years, CiS interns gain a robust set of skills through specialized training, research in the field and lab, mentorship from STEM professionals, and opportunities to teach visitors on the museum’s public floor. Applications are due by April 1, 2026.

| GirlFly Summer Art and Activism Program
GIRLFLY’s Summer Arts & Activism Project will bring together 20 young women and gender-nonconforming youth from San Francisco for a four-week program focused on freedom, voice, and creative expression. Participants will create and perform original dance and percussion works with professional artists, explore how art can support social change, and build community with peers across the city. The program is open to young women and GNC youth ages 14–21 who enjoy dancing, value creativity, and can commit to the full four weeks, with strong encouragement for African American, Arab, Latinx, Native, Asian and Pacific Islander, low-income, and QBIPOC youth to apply. Applications are due by May 15, 2026.

Oversight & Advisory Committee Updates: Open Seats and Next Meeting
|
|
|
| The Children and Youth Fund Oversight and Advisory Committee (OAC) serves as DCYF’s advisory body, providing a space for community members and service providers to discuss decisions related to the Children and Youth Fund, and to share recommendations with our department.
|
|
|
We are actively recruiting for four OAC seats appointed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (seats 7, 8, 10, and 11). Staff of DCYF grantee agencies are not allowed to be OAC members, but we would appreciate it if you would let people in your community know about the open seats. The next meeting of the OAC will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 5pm in the Lobby Conference Room at 1455 Market Street. You can also attend the meeting online via Zoom. All OAC meetings are open to the public. Visit the OAC page to learn more about the meeting.

SF Public Library's More Than a Month Black History Celebration
The richness of Black culture is honored during SFPL’s Black History celebration, More Than a Month, which begins on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, continues through February, and is recognized year-round at the San Francisco Public Libraries. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Black History Month celebrations, inviting reflection on the significance and impact of these commemorations in shaping culture and improving the lives of Black people in the modern world. Community members are encouraged to take part in a wide range of performances, hands-on activities, author readings, presentations, exhibits, and family-friendly events celebrating the nation’s abundant Black history heritage.

SF Recreation and Parks Department's Community Opportunity Fund
The Community Opportunity Fund (COF) is a citywide capital program that provides an opportunity for neighbors, community groups, park advocates, and partners to nominate capital projects for funding. Park users know how to make their parks better and we want to help you make those positive changes happen!
|
|
|
Established in the 2008 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond, the COF program has improved 35 city parks, utilizing $17 million of public bond funding and $13.7 million in philanthropic investment, in-kind donations, and sweat equity. The COF is now in its third Bond cycle with $6 million allocated from the 2020 Health and Recovery Bond for the next round of awards.
📅 Applications will be accepted from February 10 through March 26, 2026. A required pre-application workshop will be held during the day on Saturday, February 21, 2026 with a sign-up deadline of February 14, 2026.

| District 7 Participatory Budgeting Now Open
If you live in San Francisco's District 7, which includes the West Portal, Inner Parkside, St. Francis Wood, Miraloma Park, Forest Hill, Westwood Park, Sunnyside, Parkmerced, Ingleside Terraces, and Lake Merced neighborhoods, you are invited to participate in Participatory Budgeting.

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process in which community members propose projects and help decide how to spend a portion of a public budget. Launched in 2013 by then-Supervisor Norman Yee, the program has returned with improvements and is seeking both bold, innovative ideas and essential neighborhood improvement projects. Community members are encouraged to share their concerns, priorities, and creative proposals, and to help spread the word to expand participation in this process, where every vote counts.
